It’s been a great year for album releases. From Kendrick Lamar’s DAMN., to Jay-Z’s 4:44, to LCD Soundsystem’s American Dream. Now that 2017 is coming to a close, we thought we’d start looking forward to all of the incredible album releases next year has in store. Here are 10 Albums to Look Forward to in 2018.

Jack WhiteBoarding House Reach

Album Release Date: Early 2018

Jack White

It’s been nearly four years since Jack White released his critically acclaimed experimental rock album Lazaretto. According to White, his upcoming project is very bizarre, which was evidenced by the “sound collage” he released just last month. “Servings and Portions from my Boarding House Reach” promises White’s signature guitar fuzz and blues edge, in addition to sounds we’ve never heard from him before.

Fall Out Boy

The iconic rock band, now in their fifteenth year of writing, recording and performing, are getting ready to release their seventh studio album MANIA. From the sounds of already released singles “Hold Me Tight or Don’t”, “Young and Menace”, “Champion”, and “The Last of the Real Ones”, the band is weaving together multiple eras of their music in order to breach a new medium. MANIA has us excited for the next phase of FOB.

Vampire WeekendMitsubishi Macchiato

Vampire Weekend

Fans were concerned about the future of NYC-based indie rock band Vampire Weekend, when co-founder Rostam Batmanglij announced that he would no longer be in the band. But recently, lead singer Ezra Koenig has promised that a new Vampire Weekend album is 80% done, and explores different ways of storytelling through music. Rostam will also appear on the album, as some of the tracks have been in the making for years.

Major Lazer

Album Release Date: TBA

Major Lazer

Diplo assumes many identifiers. American DJ, record producer, songwriter, one half of the Skrillex-assisted Jack U, and one third of the Global hit-making behemoth that is Major Lazer, just to name a few. Diplo has confirmed that a new Major Lazer album is at the top of his priorities for 2018, followed by a new Jack U record.

Nicki Minaj

Album Release Date: TBA

Nicki Minaj

Nicki Minaj fans have been patiently waiting for the follow-up to 2014’s The Pinkprint, and according to the Queens rapper, it’s on the way. Back in September, Minaj promised that her upcoming album will be a classic hip-hop record, and by far her best body of work, including tracks that put The Pinkprint to shame. We’re eagerly awaiting Barbie’s first single.

Arctic Monkeys

Album Release Date: TBA

Arctic Monkeys

Though the band has—for the most part, anyways—kept quiet about a follow-up to 2013’s AM, bassist Nick O’Malley let slip to motorcycling magazine For The Ride that the band has begun recording a new album. O’Malley even went as far to tell us that the new album would arrive in 2018. “If it isn’t,” he said, “we’ve got problems”. We’re hoping the first single arrives next month.

The 1975Music for Cars

Album Release Date: TBA

The 1975

Last year, The 1975 dropped their not-so-succinctly titled Like It When You Sleep, For You Are So Beautiful Yet So Unaware Of It. Now, the band is getting ready to release Music for Cars, what Matt healy has described as the end of an album trilogy, a record to encapsulate this present moment for The 1975. Though unconfirmed, we think Music for Cars will include this year’s single “Milk”.

Bastille

Album Release Date: TBA

Bastille

Though it hasn’t been very long since UK-based rock band Bastille released their internationally well received album Wild World, the band is getting ready to release another album in 2018, one which frontman Dan Smith describes as an “apocalyptic party record”. Though not much is known about the upcoming LP, Smith told NME they are looking do something that feels different, a clear step away from their previous albums.

MGMTLittle Dark Age

Album Release Date: February 2018

MGMT

Little Dark Age will be MGMT’s first LP in five year’s since the release of 2013’s self-titled. From the sounds of their already released singles “When You Die” and title track “Little Dark Age”, it appears that MGMT is veering to the dark side, while still implementing what they do best, being catchy synth rock music. This new, Cure-inspired era of MGMT is definitely something to look forward to in 2018.

Charli XCX

Album Release Date: Early 2018

Charli XCX

It’s hard to believe that Charli XCX has even more music to deliver, as she is fresh off releasing her second mixtape of 2017, the experimental, guest-bolstered Pop 2. But after speculating through interviews, it seems safe to assume that Charli XCX has a proper album release in store for fans in the early months of 2018. Not to mention, come beginning of the year, Charli XCX will be going on tour.
