2 Chainz Enlisted Lebron James to A&R New Album
Rap and basketball have a long history between them. Of admiration, coalition, of complimenting each other on 2K. Arenas enlist rap songs to amp up the crowd before games and basketball is often referred to in the hits of today’s biggest rappers. At this point in American life, it’s hard to imagine one without the other.
Recently, the relationship between rap and basketball has been even more fascinating. Especially when it comes to the league’s most famous player, the one and only King James. Before Kendrick Lamar dropped his Pulitzer Prize-winning album DAMN., it was Lebron who was storied—Instagram Story, that is—bumping to a medley of the record. And before that, we could partially thank him for the release of Kendrick Lamar’s untitled. unmastered.
Considering his command on the court, his legacy, is it so surprising that Lebron James is also exerting dominance in The Game?
Today (2/19), 2 Chainz revealed the long awaited details of his upcoming album. RAP OR GO TO THE LEAGUE is due out March 1 via Def Jam. And who did 2 Chainz enlist to A&R (promote, garner talent, produce) RAP OR GO TO THE LEAGUE? Lebron James, who is also featured in the album promo. Check out the announcement below.
It’s been quite the journey to get here. All night studio sessions, reflecting, & opening up on these records or as I call it therapy! This is my each one teach one body of work, I wanna celebrate black excellence! ….. “Rap Or Go To The League” the album A&R by @KingJames 3/1 pic.twitter.com/08Y2fYKJ6X

RAP OR GO TO THE LEAGUE follow’s 2017’s Pretty Girls Like Trap Music, and his more recent EPs Hot Wings Are A Girl’s Best Friend and The Play Don’t Care Who Makes It. Judging from the latter of those EPs, 2 Chainz has had basketball on the mind for awhile now.
How couldn’t he? The league is the most fun it’s ever been. With players like Lebron James, Kevin Durant, Anthony Davis, Steph Curry…the NBA is stacked with incredible narratives. Though the competitive spirit still exists between the franchises, everyone is rooting for the league’s stars. We simply can’t wait for what any of them do next.
