Al Hirschfeld Theatre Seating Chart: Best Seats, Row Guide, and Moulin Rouge! Tickets

The Al Hirschfeld Theatre is a beautiful Broadway venue located in the heart of New York City’s Theatre District. It opened back in 1924, and has since hosted some of Broadway’s biggest shows, such as Moulin Rouge, Romeo and Juliet, and The Sound of Music.
The Al Hirschfeld hosted the Tony award-winner for Best Musical, Kinky Boots, for over six years before being home to its current inhabitant, Moulin Rouge. It’s on the smaller end of theaters, with a capacity of only 1,424.
Since 2019, this production of Moulin Rouge has been one of the hottest on the market. For your convenience, we’ve created this detailed seating chart that includes information such as row and seat numbers, where the best seats are and where not to sit, and more. Most importantly, we show you how to get cheap Moulin Rouge tickets.

Al Hirschfeld Theatre Seating Arrangements
The seat numbers on the right side of the venue are all even numbers, i.e. the first four seats are numbered 2, 4, 6, 8, etc. The same is true for the left side, except these are odd seat numbers 1,3,5,7 etc. Seating at the Al Hirschfeld Theatre is configured this way so when ushers look at your tickets, they immediately know which side of the venue to direct you.
Another rule of thumb is that the lower the seat number, the closer your seats are to the center of the venue. However, the seat numbers for the center sections are consecutive, and not even/odd (101, 102, 103, etc.).

Orchestra Seating at Al Hirschfeld Theatre
There are three center orchestra sections in the Al Hirschfeld Theatre, and all of them have good seat views for nearly all seats. If you’re looking at the Right or Left Orchestra sections, we would advise finding seats that are as close as possible to the center aisle. Some seats with higher numbers are marked as “Limited View” or “Partial View,” so you’ll probably want to avoid those to ensure that you have a full and clear view of the performance.
Keep in mind that if you’re looking for tickets on a ticket marketplace like TickPick – unless the section is explicitly noted as “Orchestra Center” – it’s possible that the section that’s just noted as “Orchestra” would be one of the two on either side.
Mezzanine Seats at Al Hirschfeld Theatre
The lower balcony and upper balcony is really considered one section; however, there’s a split (or some space between these two areas). The view from the lower balcony to the upper balcony does change a significant amount, but so does the price of tickets. If you’re looking for the cheapest tickets for Al Hirschfeld Theatre that aren’t obstructed, it would serve you well to find seats further from the center orchestra (use TickPick’s filters to hide any listings that are marked as obstructed view if you’re looking to make sure you have a full view), or the last few rows in the mezzanine.

The Best Seats at Al Hirschfeld Theatre
In our opinion, the best seats at the Al Hirschfeld Theatre for a concert are one of the first couple rows of the Mezzanine Center, or the sweet spot between rows G through L in the Center Orchestra. Also, depending on the seat numbers (that is, not too far off to the side next to the wall), the side orchestra seats can also be a great deal.
Accessible Seating at Al Hirschfeld Theatre
Al Hirschfeld Theatre is step-free from 302 West 45th Street. There are six wheelchair spaces and six transfer seats. Wheelchair seating is in the Left and Right Orchestra sections on the aisles of rows P and T. Transfer seats are towards the middle and back of the Orchestra, with a companion seat available for each. The Mezzanine is a further 20 steps up and does not have any designated accessible seating.
Keep in mind that there are no elevators or escalators at this venue.
Rush Tickets and Lottery for Moulin Rouge!
Moulin Rouge! at the Al Hirschfeld Theatre does not currently offer a digital lottery or a general rush program. However, there are still several ways to get discounted tickets. TKTS discount booths in Times Square, at Lincoln Center, and at South Street Seaport often carry same-day and next-day matinee tickets at 20 to 50 percent off. The TodayTix app also regularly lists last-minute inventory for Moulin Rouge at reduced prices. Keep checking TickPick as well, since our no-fee marketplace often surfaces below-face-value resale seats, especially for weeknight performances.
For the most current rush and lottery updates, check the official Moulin Rouge website or Playbill’s Broadway Rush and Lottery Policy page, as policies can change throughout a show’s run.

What are the best seats at the Al Hirschfeld Theatre for Moulin Rouge? The front rows of the Center Mezzanine (rows A through D) offer excellent sightlines of the entire stage and set design. In the Orchestra, rows C through F in the Center section balance proximity and full-stage views. Seats at the outer edges of the Left and Right Orchestra can have restricted views due to the staging platforms used in Moulin Rouge. Some seats in the back corners of the Mezzanine also carry partial-view designations. TickPick will always disclose any obstructed view seats before you purchase.
Is the Al Hirschfeld Theatre accessible for wheelchair users? Yes. The theatre is step-free from the 45th Street entrance.
