Made in America, the annual music festival curated by Jay-Z, will take over Benjamin Franklin Parkway this Labor Day Weekend (September 3-4). The recently announced lineup includes headliners Rihanna and Coldplay, in addition to Chance the Rapper, Grimes, Lil Wayne, and many more incredible performers. Not only is Made in America a Budweiser sponsored music festival, but the event prides itself in offering cultural exploration in the form of food, design, and technology.
Because it’s a pretty short trek from the city, Made in America usually reigns in a good portion of NYC fans, but we’re curious as to how the recent announcement of The Meadows hip-hop/rap festival in Corona Park, Queens will affect the amount of NYC attendees, especially because they can catch Kanye and The Weekend for a minimally higher cost. Either way, both festivals are certainly bringing the best in the industry out to perform in 2016, and for that, we are grateful.
Made in America tickets will go on sale Monday, June 27th, but for those of you who are Tidal subscribers, you will have an earlier opportunity to purchase 2-Day passes Wednesday, June 22nd @ 10 AM by simply logging into your accounts. Consult the official Made in America website for further ticket information. And if tickets go fast like we think they will, every performance on the festival’s three largest stages will be streaming live via Tidal!
We can’t say for certain, but Coldplay’s performance at Made in America 2016 may be their last official concert. It’s been confirmed that Coldplay is set to retire their band this year and have been going out with quite a bang on the “Head Full of Dreams” Tour. But there aren’t any more concerts listed after their September 3rd performance in Santa Clara, which leads us to believe they will be finishing out their tour (and perhaps their career) at Made in America 2016. If so, that would be a huge reason to attend.
