The 10 Most Anticipated Concerts in Chicago 2023

April 25, 2023 by

This year, the Windy City has some can’t-miss concerts and music festivals popping up around the city. Outside of Lollapalooza, which brings the music industry’s top performers like Kendrick Lamar and Billie Eilish, the city has some other highly anticipated upcoming concerts.

This list is anything but exhaustive, but we put together a list of the most anticipated Chicago concerts in 2023. Other artists not mentioned in the list coming to the city include:

For many of these artists, like Ed Sheeran, Beyoncé, SZA, and Bruce Springsteen, tickets will sell quickly as fans of these artists scramble to grab the best seats. Whether you want to take advantage of the presales or not, we can help you find the tickets you need.

While you enjoy all that the city of Chicago has to offer, take advantage of the many concerts and live shows happening in the area and have a fun night out with friends. Other top-billing artists are in the city this summer, too, including South Korean boyband Onlyoneof and British artist Alfa Mist.

Whether it’s a concert, professional sporting event, comedy show, music festival, or more, trust TickPick for the best prices on tickets with no hidden fees and no extra costs. Download the TickPick App to grab seats to your dream performance in a few clicks.

1. SZA

Longtime fans of SZA reacted as you might think they did to the release of SOS, which came six years after the debut of her album Ctrl. SOS broke Billboard’s seven-year record for an album that stayed at the number-one spot, the longest unseating Adele’s 25.

If that’s not enough to let you know how excited fans are about SZA’s upcoming concerts, then you should know that SZA’s SOS tour tickets sold out immediately after being released at the box office. With the release of the singer’s second studio album, fans are understandably eager to see her perform live.

2. Beyoncé

Queen Bey. Beyoncé. Former lead singer of the girl band Destiny’s Child, the megastar is a study in maintaining relevance throughout a changing musical landscape. From her most popular album, Dangerously In Love to Renaissance, the singer repeatedly shows that she has the breadth and dynamism to keep up with yearly trends.

Beyoncé fans are some of the most notoriously loyal fans around, and sold-out concerts are a typical occurrence when this singer goes on tour. If you’re heading to Chicago’s Soldier Field, you don’t want to miss out on seeing this R&B legend and veteran on her latest world tour perform all of her greatest hits, most notably from the album Renaissance.

3. Drake & 21 Savage

Drake and 21 Savage released Her Loss to a very mixed and reactive reception. There were reactions across the spectrum from those who simply enjoyed the collaboration between their two favorite rap artists. Beyond that, others found some of the songs controversial, and many found many of the songs humorous.

Either way, Her Loss went platinum after soaring to the number-one spot on Billboard’s top albums chart. The artists plan to hit Chicago’s United Center

4. Bruce Springsteen

Bruce Springsteen has one of the longest-running careers in music, getting his start in 1973 with his first album, Greetings From Asbury Park, N.J. Spanning six decades, Bruce Springsteen and his E Street Band amassed millions of fans over his musical career.

Though unarguably a rock icon, none of the musician’s songs claimed the number-one spot on Billboard’s Hot 100. Despite that, Born In the U.S.A. remains one of his most popular albums, with many songs gracing the Hot 100 chart.

On his next tour, Bruce Springsteen plans to hit Chicago’s Wrigley Field

5. Guns N’ Roses

Iconic hard rock band Guns N’ Roses grace the Windy City with their legendary presence touching down at Wrigley Field. The hard rock band has many top hits, including “Sweet Child o’ Mine,” “You Could Be Mine,” and “Welcome to the Jungle.” Despite being one of the most notable hard rock bands from the 1980s, their first album and most successful album in terms of copies sold, Appetite for Destruction, didn’t reach the top spot on the Billboard 200 immediately.

From Appetite for Destruction to Chinese Democracy, the band maintains its musical relevancy. Needless to say, the band has a loyal following of longtime and newer fans, and you definitely don’t want to miss out on seeing them perform live.

6. Taylor Swift

Ever-popular and beloved country and pop music superstar Taylor Swift plans to go on tour to the obvious excitement of her fans, who waited a while to get their next TS fix. From Taylor Swift and Fearless to Folklore and Midnights, the pop star continues to release major top hits that always resonate with her fan base around the world.

Like Beyoncé’s fanbase, Swifties take Taylor Swift concerts seriously, so sold-out shows are a typical thing to expect when it comes to this megastar. Despite the high-price ticket fiasco, Taylor Swift’s concerts still draw in crowds of fans, some of whom even have special TS concert savings accounts.

7. Janet Jackson

Janet Jackson is like many of the artists on this list: legends and music veterans whose recorded and live music careers span decades. Not content with being just the sister of pop sensation Michael Jackson, Janet Jackson got into music with the release of her debut self-titled album.

From Janet Jackson and Rhythm Nation to All For You and The Velvet Rope, the pop and R&B star showcased her talent for singing and dancing and her dynamism. Janet Jackson has millions of fans across the globe and is no stranger to packed auditoriums and sold-out shows.

8. Anita Baker

Another legend to make this list, Anita Baker, plans to go on tour, and Chicago is one of her destinations. You can see this icon of soul music at Chicago’s United Center.

Anita Baker isn’t often in the limelight, and so this is a chance for longtime fans and fans of Soul to get to see an important figure in this genre perform all of the best hits from her top albums. From The Songstress and Rapture to Giving You The Best That I Got and My Everything, Anita Baker showcases her skills as a profound vocalist and songwriter.

9. Dead & Company

Dead & Company plans to head out across the United States as part of the band’s farewell tour. Consisting of former members of the Grateful Dead and John Mayer, the band hits Chicago’s Wrigley Field along their final tour dates.

The band gave us great hits like “Brown-eyed Woman,” “Althea,” “Jack Straw,” and “Sugar Magnolia.” Other classic Grateful Dead songs include “Dark Star” and “Eyes of the World.”

Whether you’re a Dead Head or a classic rock enthusiast, you definitely don’t want to miss out on seeing the band before they retire.

10. Fall Out Boy

Longtime fans of Fall Out Boy swear by the band’s ever-evolving sound. Despite starting out as an emo band, Fall Out Boy gradually transformed their sounds with the incorporation of more upbeat pop elements.

From “Thanks for the Memories” to “Novocaine,” Fall Out Boy continues to explore themselves as a band with So Much (for) Stardust and Fall Out Boy fans are here for it. Either way, former fans, current fans, and longtime fans alike all agree that a Fall Out Boy concert in these times of post-emo music is not something to be missed.

Head to Wrigley Field to see these superstars in person.

Getting Around Chicago

As one of the biggest cities in the United States, Chicago has an efficient and sufficiently connected public transit system called the CTA (keep in mind the unwritten laws of Chicago transportation). Whether you prefer commuting by bus or train to your upcoming event, you can rest assured knowing that the venues these artists will perform at are very easy to access.

While driving is convenient, parking in heavily populated areas like Wrigley Field is not convenient and can be costly. So if you want to skip the CTA, order a rideshare.

Where To Eat in Chicago, Illinois

Chicago is one of the cities known for its many offerings of great food, from the classic Chicago dog to tamales fresh off a food stand. But where to eat depends on where you’ll be.

Wrigley Field offers a variety of bar foods and seafood restaurants like Swift & Sons Tavern and Oyster Bar. Big Star offers a variety of Mexican eats like tacos. Check out Beggars Pizza for classic Chicago deep dish and thin crust pizzas.

If your concert is at the United Center, there are plenty of places around there too. Check out the Billy Goat Tavern nearby for an array of delicious American-style offerings. They’re most famous for their burgers.

Of course, Chicago isn’t all concerts in massive stadiums. If you want to combine live music and rock music/comedy, try the Beat Kitchen on Belmont Avenue.

Popular chain House of Blues Chicago features blues music and southern cuisine. Special guest performances (like Ville Valo and Enslaved with Insomnium). This hotspot was started by Dan Aykroyd of Blues Brothers fame that now boasts 11 locations across North America.

Nightlife

Chicago might not be as synonymous with nightlife as Las Vegas, but the city still has a vibrant vibe perfect for ending the night after a high-energy concert. Downtown offers many skyline views, rooftop restaurants, and cocktail bars like The VU, Cerise, Cindy’s, and the Signature Lounge.

City Winery Chicago combines wine tasting, Mediterranean food, and live music. For music and late-night parties, the Byline Bank Aragon Ballroom won’t let you down. Grab a few late-night songs at Thalia Hall, the Promontory, and the Orchestra Hall Club. Fans of Indie rock will love the Metro Chicago, and passionate rock fans will love The Empty Bottle.
