This year, the David Lynch Foundation will host their annual Festival of Disruption on a different coast than years past. For it’s previous iterations, the Festival of Disruption took place in Los Angeles. This year, David Lynch and his incredible lineup of performers will take residence at Williamsburg’s hottest new venue, Brooklyn Steel.
The 2018 Festival of Disruption will take place May 19th-20th and feature a myriad of performers, installations, vendors, and more. This year, the David Lynch Foundation landed Angel Olsen, Animal Collective, My Morning Jacket’s frontman Jim James, Flying Lotus, and others. You can check out the full 2018 Festival of Disruption lineup below.
David Lynch himself, who has curated and hosted festivals past, will also also appear to present a series of talks, including a Blue Velvet screening with Isabella Rossellini. Art exhibits have also been planned—some of which feature Lynch’s own work—in addition to a planned meditation led by Bob Roth to the entirety of Brian Eno’s Reflection.
Proceeds from the Festival of Disruption go to benefit the David Lynch Foundation, “whose mission is reducing toxic stress and trauma among at-risk populations, including victims of domestic violence, veterans suffering from PTSD, and underserved urban youth, through the evidence-based Transcendental Meditation technique.”
This is the first year Lynch’s Festival of Disruption will take place in Brooklyn, at perhaps the borough’s hottest new venue. The festival will continue running in Los Angeles concurrently. Tickets for the 2018 Festival of Disruption are currently on pre-sale, and will go on-sale to the general public on Thursday, March 8th, with a limited number of tickets including an intimate cocktail party hosted by Lynch.
