Did Dez Bryant Make the Catch? Jones and Romo Still Say Yes
Deflate-gate notwithstanding, one of the more controversial moments of last season’s NFL playoffs came when the Dallas Cowboys went head to head with the Green Bay Packers during the NFC divisional round.
With the Cowboys trailing 26-21 late in the game and facing a fourth-and-two situation, Dallas QB Tony Romo went to the air in an attempt to hit star receiver Dez Bryant. A catch would have ensured the first down for the Cowboys and put the team into scoring position.
Instead, this happened–
Without question, the official decision to reverse Bryant’s catch via the “Calvin Johnson rule” helped secure the win for the Packers. Despite the ruling, there are some in the Dallas camp that think the league got it wrong.
As ESPN reporters spoke with Romo and Cowboys owner Jerry Jones during training camp, each proclaimed their continued belief that Bryant made the catch.
Obviously nothing can be changed at this point, and rules are rules, but one can’t help but feel for the Cowboys crew.
