Escape Music Fest Moves to Governor’s Island Beach Club
Now that all phases of the lineup have been released, ticket holders and festival organizers are getting pumped for the first ever Escape Music Fest, set to take place on October 11th & 12th. Fans will get to be in front of some of the best acts in the indie, pop, and electronic genres, such as Moby, Yeasayer, Girl Talk, Mayer Hawthorne, and Ra Ra Riot. Escape Fest Tickets are still available, but supplies are definitely limited. In the past few weeks, Escape Fest organizers announced a few logistical changes, and from what we can see, these changes will make the event even better.
Location Change: For starters, festival management has announced that Escape Fest will take place at Governor’s Island Beach Club, instead of the aforementioned Pier 9. From what we can tell, Governor’s Island Beach Club is a smaller venue, so festival organizers advise that fans purchase tickets as far in advance as possible, since the supply of tickets has significantly decreased. The festival hasn’t said what caused the venue change, but they are assuring ticket holders that the move to Governor’s Island will indeed be an upgrade from the previous plan.
Lowered Age Requirement: In addition to changing the location, Escape Fest has also lowered the age permit to 18+ (from the previously stated 21+).
New Curfew: Escape Fest organizers have also announced that the festival will run from 12PM-12AM, an hour longer than what was previously released. This is likely a consequence of the move to Governor’s Island Beach Club, so at the very least, this venue change allows for an extra hour of partying. And since Escape Fest is promising a truly unique festival experience, we think you’re going to be grateful for that extra hour.
Travel Plans: Since Escape Fest has moved from Brooklyn’s Pier 9 and onto Governor’s Island, festival tickets now include a ferry pass from 10 South Street to the venue. Ferries will be running continuously to and from downtown Manhattan until all festival goers have left the event, so there’s no need to worry about leaving the festival. (Except for the fact that you won’t want to leave).
Though the Escape Fest organizers are throwing some last minute changes at ticket holders, we think the festival has upgraded as a whole. Two-Day passes are available for just 109$, but because of the venue change (and the amazingly low price), we would suggest getting your Escape Festival tickets soon. Still aren’t sold? Don’t forget that Escape Fest supports some of the best upcoming indie artists around. Check out the rest of the lineup below, and don’t forget to tweet @EscapeMusicFest for more info and event buzz!
