Grateful Dead Stage Layout
So here is what the stage is going to look like for the Grateful Dead shows. The stage is a bit open in the back so you may be able to catch a glimpse of the performance form the obstructed seats behind the stage, but you’d need to be sitting directly behind it. Also, notice the large speakers hanging off the side of the stage, which could impact the views of the sections just off the stage.

Grateful Dead Seating Chart | General Admission
There are two different general admission seating areas for The Grateful Dead’s Fare Thee Well Tour at Levi’s Stadium and Soldier Field. The GA Pit section is closest to the stage, and the GA Field section is essentially from the 50 yard line back. The Pit areas are not separate like they are shown above, and as with all General Admission tickets your standing location is based on a first come first serve basis.
The GA Pit tickets are some of the most expensive tickets for The Grateful Dead, whereas the GA Field tickets are relatively affordable in comparison. However, we would not advise buying GA Field tickets if you want to be close to the stage, or if you want to have the option to sit at all during the show. Also since there won’t be any elevation on the field, it may be challenging to see the entire stage, especially if you are vertically challenged.
Grateful Dead Seating Chart | Obstructed View Seating
Due to such high demand, Levi’s Stadium and Soldier Field opened seats in all seating levels on the sides and behind the stage. The sections that are parallel with the stage will be marked “side stage” or “partially obstructed“. A partially obstructed seat will still provide some view of the stage, but it will be limited and you may not be able to see the performers if they move to certain areas of the stage during the performance. However, these seats will be the cheapest Grateful Dead tickets that still offer a chance to see the action.
Now, as you move behind the stage those section will provide no view of the stage whatsoever. These seats are for those that just want to be in building for the Grateful Dead’s last performances. Levi’s Stadium and Soldier Field will be providing TV monitors to provide video of the concert, so you can still see the performers as you listen to them live. Because of this setup, the obstructed (no) view seating for the Fare Thee Well concert series are the cheapest Grateful Dead tickets available. These Soldier Field Seat Views are for Chicago Bears games, but they can still be valuable in helping decide seats for the Grateful Dead. Remember the front of the stage is set up at about sections 104 and 143, or in the end zone on this map. So if you can imagine the stage starting at the goaline and taking up the entire endzone, these views can be very useful.
Some important takeaways from the “Soldier Field Concert Seat Views“:
– The 100 level seating is shallow (and expensive). You are better off sitting in the 300 level closer to the stage than in the opposite endzone (sections 119-126)
– The GA Field seating is farther away from the stage than you think. In many cases you are better off in a regular section with seating to guarantee your location.
– The 200 (club) level may be a better option than seats in the 100 level in the sections 210-235. Since these section are a bit back from the stage, the cheaper prices in the 200 level may be more appealing, especially since the views are very comparable.
