The Best New Holiday and Christmas Albums in 2021

It’s beginning to look, feel, and sound, like the holiday season. From decorating your house, to purchasing gifts for loved ones, this season has a lot of joy in store—especially if you are a lover of holiday music.

This year’s holiday album releases range from updated classics to newfound originals to pop singalongs. Here are our favorite 2021 Holiday Album Releases, the Best New Holiday Albums and Singles due out this season.

Norah Jones: I Dream of Christmas

A Christmas album from the beloved singer Norah Jones? Well, we would never feel so bold to ask that of the Come Away With Me artist. But Norah Jones released I Dream of Christmas this past fall, and now we don’t know how we ever lived in the world without it.

Intimate, cozy, and sweet, Norah Jones brings a nice romantic playfulness to the holiday soundtrack. Match the simple joys of holiday music with Jones’ dreamy, jazz-pop vocals and we have a record we can see going back to again, and again, and again. As timeless as they come, Norah Jones serves as the perfect conductor of mood this holiday season.

Kelly Clarkson: When Christmas Comes Around

This past fall, the famed singer and TV personality Kelly Clarkson released her ninth studio album When Christmas Comes Around. The record is filled with stunning vocals from Clarkson, ranging from original songs to timeless holiday classics.

When Christmas Comes Around also features stunning collaborations with Ariana Grande (“Santa, Can’t You Hear Me”), Chris Stapleton (“Glow”), and Brett Eldridge (“Under the Mistletoe”). When Christmas Comes Around is Clarkson’s second holiday album, following 2013’s Wrapped In Red.

Darren Criss: A Very Darren Crissmas

During last year’s shutdown, Glee and American Crime Story actor Darren Criss spent months in the studio recording a holiday album. The result? A highly listenable mix of both old holiday originals, lesser known songs by his favorite artists, and an original track from Criss.

The album, A Very Darren Crissmas, features appearances by Evan Rachel Wood, Lainey Wood, and Adam Lambert. Darren Criss will be going on a limited U.S tour, through NYC, Chicago, Boston, and others, beginning December 3rd.

Michael Bublé: Christmas (10th Anniversary Edition)

To celebrate the tenth anniversary of his beloved holiday album Christmas, Michael Bublé has re-released the record with the addition of seven new songs. From Bublé’s big band duet with Rod Stewart (“Winter Wonderland”) to his new original “Christmas Sweater,” his updated holiday album is definitely worth revisiting this year.

Not only is Michael Bublé dropping a 10th anniversary edition of Christmas, the contemporary crooner is also throwing a star-studded Christmas special in NYC called Michael Bublé’s Christmas in the City. The singer will be joined by special guests including Camila Cabello, Leon Bridges, Jimmy Fallon, Hannah Waddingham and Kermit the Frog!

Michael Bublé’s Christmas in the City will air Dec. 6 on NBC. Will Michael Bublé go on tour following his Christmas in the City special? We are holding out for a Christmas time miracle.

Zach Williams: I Don’t Want Christmas to End

Two-time Grammy award-winner Zach Williams has released his first-ever Christmas album, I Don’t Want Christmas To End. The ten track album includes both originals and southern rock renditions of holiday classics, making I Don’t Want Christmas To End the winter jam session we didn’t know we needed.

Zach Williams is celebrating the release of his first holiday album with the “I Don’t Want Christmas To End” Tour. The tour, running through December, will give fans a chance to rock around the Christmas tree with the man who turned the holidays up a notch.

Pistol Annies: Hell of a Holiday

The country trio Pistol Annies—Miranda Lambert, Angaleena Presley, and Ashley Monroe—released their first holiday album this year. Hell of a Holiday spans 10 songs, mostly originals with a few renditions including “Auld Lang Syne” and “Sleigh Ride.”

This month, on December 15th at 8 p.m EST, Pistol Annies will be hosting The Pistol Annies Hell of a Holiday Special on the group’s Facebook page. According to the band, the event will also serve as a fundraiser for the Music Health Alliance.

Rob Thomas: Something About Christmas Time

Who knew that the “Christmas in July” Hallmark channel programming would be the inspiration behind the new holiday album from Rob Thomas, Something About Christmas Time? According to the former Matchbox Twenty singer, he got into the spirit early this year.

“I made everything Christmas. I got Christmas lights all over all my equipment, all [over] my gear,” Thomas told People. “And then it’s funny because during July, Hallmark was doing their Christmas in July, so I could just have Christmas movies kind of running in the background all the time.”

The 10-track Something About Christmas Time includes guest appearances by Ingrid Michaelson, Brad Paisley, Bebe Winans, and more. Comprised of both original and classic holiday songs, Rob Thomas’ Something About Christmas Time is a must-hear this season.

Taylor Swift: “Christmas Tree Farm”

This year, along with her whole album of updated songs Taylor’s Version, Taylor Swift dropped a revisited version of her holiday single—2019’s “Christmas Tree Farm.”

Mariah Carey: “Fall In Love At Christmas”

What’s better than the queen of Christmas herself, Mariah Carey, delivering on a new holiday single? This year, Mariah Carey brings us “Fall In Love At Christmas,” another triumph featuring Kirk Franklin and Khalid.

Goo Goo Dolls: “One Last Song About Christmas”

It looks like the Goo Goo Dolls are feeling the holiday spirit this year. It’s Christmas All Over, last year’s holiday album, has been re-released in a deluxe edition to include new tracks. “One Last Song About Christmas,” in particular, is worth a listen this holiday season.

Leona Lewis and Ne-Yo: “Kiss Me It’s Christmas”

Co-written by Richard “Biff” Stannard, best known for his work with the Spice Girls, the new romantic holiday track from Leona Lewis and Ne-Yo has us swooning. Looking to get cozy this holiday season? “Kiss Me It’s Christmas” has got you covered.
