Brad Paisley
With numerous awards and several platinum albums, Brad Paisley is undeniably one of the biggest country stars of the last fifteen years. Paisley made his recorded debut in 1999 with the album “Who Needs Pictures,” which was an instant success, quickly earning platinum certification and scoring him two No. 1 singles. He hasn’t lost momentum ever since, and now has ten incredibly successful albums, three Grammy Awards, and an induction into the esteemed Grand Ole Opry. Last year, Paisley released his tenth studio album called “Moonshine in the Trunk.” The album debuted at the #2 spot on the Billboard 200, proving that Paisley is still a superstar to this day.
Dierks Bentley
Dierks Bentley rose to fame right out of the gate when his 2003 debut single, “What Was I Thinkin’,” shot to #1 on the charts. His career hasn’t shown any signs of slowing down, as he’s had a steady stream of #1 singles over the years and eleven Grammy nominations to date. Bentley’s latest album, “Riser,” came out in 2014. The record reached the top spot on the country albums chart and earned him a Grammy nomination for Best Country Album.
Rascal Flatts
Grammy-winning country pop trio Rascal Flatts is composed of vocalist Gary LeVox, bassist/keyboardist Jay DeMarcus, and guitarist Joe Don Rooney. The group debuted in 2000 with their first single, “Prayin’ for Daylight,” which reached #3 on the Billboard country charts. Their self-titled debut record soon followed, earning the band positive reviews and three more top ten hits. Over the years, Rascal Flatts has had twelve #1 singles, including “Bless the Broken Road,” which earned them a Grammy for songwriting. Their latest record, “Rewind,” dropped in 2014, debuting at the top spot on the U.S. country charts.
Darius Rucker
As the frontman of the wildly successful rock band Hootie & the Blowfish, Darius Rucker has been in the limelight since the 1990s. Rucker was initially supposed to make his solo debut in 2001 with an R&B record called “The Return of Mongo Slade,” but Atlantic Records made the decision not to release the album. However, it was eventually picked up by the independent label Hidden Beach Recordings, which released the album in 2002, with the name changed to “Back to Then.” In 2008, Rucker switched gears again and signed with Capitol Records Nashville to start recording as a country artist. He has since released five country albums, the latest of which dropped in March of this year.
Little Big Town
Country vocal quartet Little Big Town is comprised of Karen Fairchild, Kimberly Schlapman, Phillip Sweet, and Jimi Westbrook. After signing with Mercury Nashville, they released their eponymous debut album in 2002. Although their first album was only moderately successful, their sophomore album became their big breakthrough and eventually went platinum. Little Big Town’s latest album is called “Pain Killer,” and came out in October 2014. The record has produced two top 5 singles thus far, “Day Drinking” and “Girl Crush.”
Tim McGraw
Since his debut in the 1990s, Tim McGraw has become arguably the biggest name in modern country music, with millions of album sales, several #1 albums and hit singles, and a multitude of awards. He came onto the scene with his self-titled debut in 1993, though it did not do as well as his future records. By the time his second album came out a year later, however, McGraw was already tearing up the charts with several top ten singles, two of which reached #1. The album went on to sell 6 million copies and was certified 6x platinum. Since then he has kept up the momentum, continuing to top the charts with his subsequent records, and over the years he has used his starpower to break into acting. McGraw’s latest effort, “Two Lanes of Freedom,” saw release in September 2014 and earned the singer yet another spot at the top of the U.S. Billboard Top Country Albums chart.
Justin Moore
Since he scored a record deal in 2008, Justin Moore has put out three records and earned several chart-topping hits. Debuting in 2009 with his self-titled record, Moore’s single “Small Town USA” quickly rose to the peak position on the country charts, becoming the first of many #1 hits for the singer. His debut record, as well as his sophomore album “Outlaws Like Me,” have both been certified gold by the RIAA. Moore’s latest album, “Off the Beaten Path,” came out in 2013, once again reaching the top spot on the country albums chart.
The Band Perry
The Band Perry is comprised of the three Perry siblings: Kimberly on vocals, guitar, and piano, Reid on bass, and Neil on drums, mandolin, and accordion. They signed with Republic Nashville in 2009 and released an eponymous debut album the next year. They achieved success almost instantly, with the album’s second single, the now-multi-platinum “If I Die Young,” topping the charts and earning the band a Grammy nomination for Best Country Song. The Band Perry followed their wildly successful debut with their sophomore record, “Pioneer,” which came out in 2013. Earlier this year, the band won a Grammy Award for Best Country Duo/Group Performance for their song “Gentle on My Mind.”
Tyler Farr
Missouri native Tyler Farr is a relative newcomer to the country music scene. He released his debut album, “Redneck Crazy,” just two years ago. Farr had his first top 10 hit with the album’s title track, and followed that with his single “Whiskey in My Water,” which peaked at number three. Now, Tyler Farr is ready to release his sophomore album, “Suffer in Peace,” which is due out on April 28.
Brantley Gilbert
Brantley Gilbert began his career in the mid-2000s when he moved to Nashville as a songwriter, where he penned songs for artists like Jason Aldean and Colt Ford. Over time, he gravitated towards solo performance and eventually released his debut album, “Modern Day Prodigal Son,” in 2009. Gilbert released his subsequent album, “Halfway to Heaven,” the next year, and it went on to achieve platinum sales. Last year, he had a number one single with “Bottoms Up,” his most popular song to date. The success of that single sparked interest for his third and most recent album, “Just as I Am.”
Sam Hunt
Singer-songwriter Sam Hunt got his start writing hit songs for big-name country artists like Kenny Chesney, Keith Urban, and Billy Currington. Hunt independently released his first solo single, “Raised On It,” in 2013, followed by a 15-song mixtape called “Between the Pines.” He swiftly earned a recording deal with MCA Nashville in 2014, and soon released his single “Leave the Night On,” which became a #1 hit. The success of his first single paved the way for his full-length debut album to top the charts as well.
