The seat numbers at the Dean Smith Center follow the opposite pattern that most venues. follow. At the Smith Center,  seat number one in section 108 is on the aisle closest to section 109, and the highest seat number in section 108 is closest to the aisle next to section  107. The Dean Smith Center has a capacity of 21,750, which is larger than most NBA arenas.

The Student Sections at the Smith Center are always located  116-117 and 216-217, but can expand to the adjacent sections for bigger games. Despite the Dean Smith Center’s massive capacity, student seats make up only a small percentage of these in comparison to other big time college basketball programs.
