Jenny Lewis Confirms First Solo Album In Six Years | Tour Dates, Tracklist, and More

Jenny Lewis has just recently confirmed a new record, due out July 29th, and this is a pretty game-changing announcement. It’s been six years since Lewis last dropped a solo album, and she’s been through a lot in that time. The end of Rilo Kiley came after the death of the singer and actress’ estranged father in 2010, and as Lewis told Rolling Stone recently, she grappled with both events as she continued to write new material. Shen then hit the road with the Postal Service last year, and said that when she returned to California after touring, she immediately entered Ryan Adams‘ studio to start this record.

The upcoming album, titled The Voyagerfrom what we can tell so far, will be something different for Lewis. “Making The Voyager got me through one of the most difficult periods of my life,” Lewis said in a statement. “After Rilo Kiley broke up and a few really intense personal things happened, I completely melted down. It nearly destroyed me. I had such severe insomnia that, at one point, I didn’t sleep for five straight nights. Many of the songs on The Voyager came out of the need to occupy my mind in the moments when I just couldn’t shut down.” Check out the official tracklist for The Voyager below to get a sneak peek of what Lewis has in store.

Jenny Lewis’ The Voyager track list:
“Head Underwater”
“She’s Not Me”
“Just One of the Guys”
“Slippery Slopes”
“Late Bloomer”
“You Can’t Outrun ‘Em”
“The New You”
“Aloha & The Three Johns”
“Love U Forever”
“The Voyager”

The former Rilo Kiley frontwoman has been on the move this past year. In addition to securing spots on many great festival bills, Lewis’ song “Completely Not Me” featuring Vampire Weekend’s Rostam Batmanglij was included on the HBO series Girls’ Season 2 soundtrack (listen below). A lot has changed for Jenny Lewis the past few years, and this new album will likely reflect these big changes. “This record was the hardest one I ever made,” Lewis said. “The Voyager tells that story: the longest night of my life and the journey to finally getting some rest.”

Lewis’ current tour runs through the beginning of August and includes stops at some of 2014’s best music festivals, including Governors BallLollapalooza, Outside Lands and Austin City Limits. Check out Lewis’ U.S. Tour Dates below, and look out for her new album this July.
