Joey Badass Confirms Pro Era Album in the Works

It’s been three years since Pro Era, the hip-hop collective born out of Brooklyn, dropped The Shift. Mostly every member of Pro Era—founded by the late Capital Steez—has seen their fan base grow extensively since the arrival of The Shift, especially Joey Bada$$, who dropped All-Amerikkkan Bada$$ this past April. Pro Era did themselves a huge service by putting the emphasis on solo work for the past three years, but now, according to Joey Bada$$ in an interview with Revolt TV, Pro Era will be out with their next project soon.

“Alright, I guess I’ll just let the cat out the bag now” says Joey. “I think it’s a perfect time to since people think we all not doing anything. We’re working on the album. We’re gonna put out a Pro Era album real soon. King Capital is also coming real soon. But, yeah, we back on our sh*t”. Joey Bada$$ defends the amount of time it has taken to drop a new pro Era album, especially considering how young most of the members were when the collective came into being back in 2011. “We kinda had to allow that grace period for all of us to really fall into ourselves and we’re definitely at that point now and we coming back stronger than ever” says Joey.

Among Joey Bada$$, Pro Era members include rappers CJ Fly, Kirk Knight, Nyck Caution, Jakk the Rhymer, and more. Late member/ co-founder Capital Steez will have a posthumously produced album out this year as well titled King Capital. Joey didn’t specify a time frame for when the next Pro Era offering or Steez’s last album will drop, but we hope “real soon” means this Summer. Though Joey Bada$$ was hesitant to overhype the album in the Revolt TV interview, we think this is news worth getting excited about, considering all of the talent that lies within Pro Era.

Until the new Pro Era project drops, be sure to check out the latest offering from Bed-Stuy’s greatest, Joey Bada$$. All-Amerikkkan Bada$$, featuring Schoolboy Q and J. Cole, came out on the anniversary of the late Steez’s lone mixtape AmeriKKKan Korruption. The album is doused in politics, but Joey Bada$$ manages a fresh take on the current political climate, one that is personally realized and masterfully produced. For a sophomore record, All-Amerikkkan Bada$$ is an impressive offering by an artist who is making his voice known in this industry and this world.

Check back for updates on the new Pro Era album, due out sometime soon.
