Justin Bieber Releases “Cold Water” With Major Lazer
The dynamic duo has done it again. Justin Bieber has teamed up with Major Lazer, Diplo’s other EDM identity, to release the laid-back pop track “Cold Water”. The new single also features the vocals from MØ, the 27-year old Danish vocalist who appeared on “Lean On”, Bieber’s and Major Lazer’s other famed collaboration. “Cold Water” was penned by Ed Sheeran and Benny Blanco. Check out the audio/lyric video for it below:
This is the Justin Bieber/ Major Lazer/ Ed Sheeran collaboration we’ve seen, but in our opinion, it’s been a long time coming. Last year, Justin Bieber released Purpose, which included singles produced by Diplo (“Where Are You Now”; “Lean On”) and penned by Sheeran (“Love Yourself”). For these three incredibly different artists to come together may have been odd at first, but considering the product, the Sheeran/Diplo/Bieber formula really works.
“Cold Water” is a pretty chill track, but has already reached the top of several country’s music charts. The song begins with a slightly provocative lyric (“Everybody gets high sometimes, you know,”) and proceeds with Justin Bieber’s voice laid over simple guitar riffs. “Cold Water” is about the ups and downs of love (a topic familiar to Justin Bieber…) and is definitely one of the best songs released this summer. We hope Ed Sheeran, Diplo, and Justin Bieber continue to collaborate, and hopefully Ed Sheeran and Major Lazer’s next projects will come to light soon.
Stay cool and stay tuned for more songs of summer 2016!
