Listen: Rae Sremmurd and Pharrell’s New Single “Chanel”
Hip-hop duo Rae Sremmurd—consisting of Slim Jxmmi and Swae Lee—have teamed up with legendary producer Pharrell on their latest offering from the forthcoming Sr3mm, due out this month. “Chanel“, a sinister trap track, features a Mike WiLL Made-It beat of dissonant synth drones, over which Rae Sremmurd spits the contagious hook: “Take her to Chanel, cause she’s fine.”
“Chanel” is both dirty and lush, the duo’s lyrics mixing romance with their trademark innuendo. Slim Jxmmi spits: “And I don’t want your head, I want your mind/ I kinda fell in love with your vibe.” Pharrell guests falsetto ad-libs and playfully dotes on the tracks internal rhymes. “Richard Mille, one time I gotta wind/ ‘Cause if I don’t it’ll die/ Jean Imbert when I dine.” Check out the instantly contagious “Chanel” below.
Sr3mm, due out in April, will be comprised of three parts: a self-titled Rae Sremmurd album, a Jxmmi solo album (Jxmtro), and a Swae solo album (Swaecation). “Chanel” will appear on the Jxmtro portion. Mike WiLL Made-It recently revealed that Sr3mm will consist of 27 tracks. He also revealed that it features contributions from Future, Young Thug, Travis Scott, Zoë Kravitz, and more.
Rae Sremmurd will be playing a number of shows in the near future, one of which with Snoop Dogg in Vegas. Childish Gambino has enlisted Rae Sremmurd for a number of his upcoming tour dates as well. Check out all of your opportunities to catch Rae Sremmurd live below!
