Dodger Stadium History and Overview
Dodger Stadium is home to the Los Angeles Dodgers (formerly the Brooklyn Dodgers). It’s the third-oldest baseball stadium in the MLB, behind Fenway Park and Wrigley Field. Dodger Stadium opened for the 1962 season and has the largest seating capacity of any baseball stadium, at 56,000.
The Dodgers have seven World Series championships and are seeking an eighth this October against their traditional World Series rival, the New York Yankees. Keep reading below to get Dodgers postseason tickets.
Dodger Stadium Seat Numbers
The Dodger Stadium seating chart with seat numbers shows that seat 1 is always closer to the lower-numbered adjacent section. For example, seat 1 in section 6RS would be closest to the highest numbered seat in section 4RS (sections are even and odd depending on which side of home plate the section is in).
Typically, the best seats are closer to the home plate. Going by that logic, if you’re on the left-field line, you’d want a seat with a lower seat number, and on the right-field line, you’d look for a higher seat number. (So remember, don’t think of seat and row numbers as the same thing.)
Best Seats at Dodger Stadium
The Best Seats for an LA Dodgers game are in the Field Box sections. They’re behind the backstop and around the infield. If you cannot score tickets in those sections, tickets in the Loge MVP level sections 101-136 are also a great option.
Los Angeles Dodgers Premium Seats
Unfortunately, the Dodger Stadium seating chart is one of the more confusing in the MLB. Some of the most sought-after seats, the Field Box sections, are designated as Prime Ticket Club sections. Tickets in this section offer access to the exclusive Prime Ticket Club, along with complimentary food, soft drinks, and concierge service.
To be clear, if the tickets simply say “Field” 41 or “Box” 41, this refers to the second section off the field. The Field Box sections are closer to the action at Dodger Stadium than the field-level seats. So, when buying Dodgers tickets, try to get “Field Box Seats.”
Seats in the Shade at Dodger Stadium
For those looking for shade at Dodger Stadium, stick to tickets on the third-base side of the field. These seats are primarily shaded during day games.
If you cannot score tickets on that side of the field, the last few rows in the field, loge, and lower reserve are under the section above, which is nicely protected from the rain.
Covered Seating at Dodger Stadium
Looking for a shady area for a Dodgers home game? This section is for you.
Shaded seats change depending on the time of day. You can generally find covered seating at Dodger Stadium on the third base side of the park, farther back in that section under an overhang, and in the last few rows of the 200-level (loge level).
The sun is directly overhead for early afternoon games at Dodger Stadium, and nearly all seats, including those in the outfield, will be affected by it. The second level of seats, also known as the Loge Level, does offer some shade. Seats in the back half of the Loge and the Reserve Level have overhang protection.
ADA Seating and Parking at Dodger Stadium
Some important information is provided for visitors needing wheelchair access and/or those looking to attend a game at Dodger Stadium with somebody who is. Therefore, if you’re seeking ADA seating, there are accessible rows at the top of most sections within the ballpark and spread throughout.
Additionally, when necessary, folding chairs are provided for guests, such as those who wish to sit with a fan while using a wheelchair. One trick you can use to filter tickets that are ADA accessible is our “Additional filters +” button on the event page. It allows you to select “ADA (wheelchair accessible).” It shows all seats that the seller marked as accessible seating.
Dodger Stadium Family Activities
Children under 3 don’t need their own ticket, and there are children’s play areas on the reserve level’s first and third base sides.
There are also 5-foot-high sculptures of the team’s retired numbers outside the entrance to the upper reserve level, as well as life-size bobblehead replicas. Plus, they’ve got MVP, Cy Young, and Gold Glove awards at the entry plazas on the reserve levels.
Los Angeles Dodgers Dugout and Bullpen
The Los Angeles Dodgers Bullpen is in front of sections 9-15, and the visitors’ dugout is in front of sections 6-10. The Dodgers’ bullpen is located between sections 53, 167, and 301. The visitors’ bullpen is in front of sections 52, 168, and 302.
Dodger Stadium Retail Store
A new LA Dodgers retail store is built behind home plate at the Top of the Park location. It’s open daily, along with the Top of the Park ticket office. A 2nd retail store is built on the reserve level on the 3rd base side.
In June 2013, a state-of-the-art Wi-Fi network and cellular antenna system were completed to support cell phone and Internet connectivity from mobile devices.
