Macklemore Tour | Will Macklemore Tour in 2015?

West coast born Macklemore may not have stacks of albums under his belt, and he may be relatively new to the mainstream, but that hasn’t stopped the artist from topping the charts. When teamed up with producer Ryan Lewis, it seems the duo become untouchable. Together, the two business savvy musicians took the hip hop world by storm in late 2012, and it looks like they are getting ready to do it again!

What’s Next?

While we haven’t heard much from the Pacific Northwest’s favorite rap star over the last two years., it is confirmed that the dynamic duo have once again joined forces to grab the music scene by the ears. First up on Macklemore and Ryan Lewis’s resolutions for the new year? An album.

That’s right! The Mack dropped the news on New Years Day after a fan questioned him on twitter (1. Can you get more casual than that? And 2. That fan must have gone INSANE!). Fans are excited, and they should be! Their debut studio album The Heist won Best Rap Album at the 2014 Grammy awards, and their hit song “Thrift Shop” rocketed to the top of several charts.

So far, we have no news on what the new album will be about; however, we can assume a couple of things:

  1. Macklemore’s struggles with alcohol and drug addiction have been frequent topics in his writing. While Mack has been sober since he entered a rehab facility in 2008, that dark time in his life is something he comes back to again and again in his music.
  2. The West Coast, and in particular, his native city Seattle, will almost certainly come up a few times. We know from his past work, that Macklemore is not short of love for his hometown:

“I’ve got my city right behind me. If I fall, they’ve got me. . . .”
~’Can’t Hold Us’, feat. Ray Dolton

  1. His kid. (Wait, what?). Yep! Another thing the budding artist has due out this year is a child with his fiance`, Tricia Davis! After speculation from the paparazzi, Mack announced the news on Ryan Lewis’s Youtube page:

Having a kid is a big deal, and we expect we will hear all about the young rap star’s hopes and fears of being a father on this new album.

  1. On the subject of racism, Macklemore recently delivered a heartfelt radio interview about race in hip hop and America. We know that the recent shootings in St. Louis have affected him (he was on the ground in Ferguson during the protests), and with his penchant for socially activist music (see: Same Love), the new album will almost certainly have at least one song that addresses the issue of police brutality.

It also appears as though the two artists are just as excited as the fans for this upcoming release. Both composers have tons of gratitude towards their followers, who stood by them even during their year-long hiatus. In a recent interview with Music Times Magazine, Macklemore stated “We have been working every day on this next record… We want to make an album everyone’s proud of.”

A 2015 Tour for Macklemore & Ryan Lewis?

The pair have also announced they want to follow up the new album with a tour! They’ve already done a few shows in January, but with nothing scheduled, and no release date for the album, whether we will get to see Macklemore and Ryan Lewis tour the United States in the coming year remains to be seen. But if they do (yes please!), we can hopefully expect a west coast friendly tour similar to their last one, which started in Portland and ended in Seattle.
