Mike Will Made-It’s ‘Creed II’ Soundtrack features Kendrick Lamar, Lil Wayne, and More

It’s only been a month since famed producer Mike WiLL Made-It announced he would be the heavyweight behind the Creed II soundtrack. The Rocky universe has no shortage of bangers, beginning with iconic scenes set to the backdrop of Survivor’s “Eye of the Tiger” and James Brown’s “Living in America”. Fast forward nearly 40 years later, to Michael B. Jordan reprising his role as Adonis Creed to the sounds of Kendrick Lamar, Lil Wayne, Nicki Minaj, and more.

Could this be the return of star-studded movie soundtracks? Last year, we were blessed with the TDE-curated soundtrack for Black Panther, which gave us “All the Stars” and “King’s Dead”, not to mention several other memorable tracks. Though Black Panther the Soundtrack was a success by any standard, we think the Mike WiLL Made-It produced Creed II Soundtrack will be a particularly strong rival.

On Instagram, the producer wrote, “Rare collabs. Loud mixes. New flows. Fresh melodies. New tempos. New frequencies, real messages in the most organic way. The soundtrack / collaboration album game will never be the same after this.” Check out the announcement below.

The Ear Drummer Records frontman has a knack for powerful pairings. Some will be familiar to rap fans who’ve kept up with Mike WiLL’s career. Nas and Rick RossA$AP Rocky and Nicki Minaj. Kendrick and Pharrell. Other collabs will feel a bit out there—because they are. Even Tessa Thompson and Bon Iver appear on the tracklist. Our favorite from the Creed II soundtrack? That sultry, jazz-flecked Ari Lennox + J. Cole joint, the oh so smooth “Shea Butter Baby”.

Creed II is scheduled to hit most theaters tomorrow, Nov. 21. Being the producer behind Beyonce’s “Formation” and Miley Cyrus’ “We Can’t Stop”, Mike WiLL Made-It has a huge pair of his own shoes to fill. You can check out the full soundtrack below.
