Jason Boland: The Light Saw Me

Album Release Date: December 3, 2021

It’s not just another record release from Jason Boland & The Stragglers. This time, the red dirt country band is combining sci-fi with country for an all-out concept album titled The Light Saw Me. The upcoming album will detail the journey of a Texas cowboy from the 1890s who was abducted by aliens and catapults forward an entire century in time, landing in 1990 without his family.

The new album single “Restless Spirits” was originally written and performed by the late Bob Childers, though Jason Boland & The Stragglers perfectly iterate the song for the sci-fi narrative’s purposes. For their tenth studio album, Jason Boland & The Stragglers are getting ready to deliver, as album producer Shooter Jennings put it, “a magnum opus of the highest creative order.”

Alison Krauss and Robert Plant: Raise the Roof

Album Release Date: November 19, 2021

In 2007, bluegrass Americana musician Alison Krauss and former Led Zeppelin lead singer Robert Plant released the duet album Raising Sand. The understated record of a haunting quality landed them unfathomable success, landing them several Grammy nominations and Album of the Year.

The duo’s unlikely and uncanny vocal chemistry will be seen on Raise the Roof, due out November 19, after sending snippets of songs to each other for over a decade. Wade Bowen: Where Phones Don’t Work EP

Album Release Date: November 19, 2021

Fans of Wade Bowen have been extremely grateful for the country musician’s prolific approach since the pandemic. Last year alone, Wade Bowen dropped the full-length Hold My Beer, Vol. 2, in addition to a live album. Now, Bowen is getting ready to release an EP titled Where Phones Don’t Work. The EP is led by last month’s single, “When Love Comes Around.”

According to Bowen, with the return of live music came the desire for more “uplifting” songs to perform for concert audiences. “There’s a new sense of hope and a new sense of urgency with this music. I’m just so inspired again,” says Bowen. We can’t wait for Wade Bowen’s upcoming EP, of lively country music, and the concerts to come.

Country Albums Coming in 2022…

Thomas Rhett: Where We Started and Country Again: Side B

Album Release Date: Early 2022

In early November, Thomas Rhett had a Santa’s sleigh-sized heap of good news to deliver to his adoring fans. To begin with, he released the first new single off his sixth studio album. The track, “Slow Down Summer,” is a string-forward ballad co-written by Rhett and a few other Nashville legends. It’s the first taste of his new album, Where We Started, expected in early 2022.

“I wrote this song from the point of view of two people who are in love during senior year of high school,” Rhett explained via a press release. “I envisioned them headed off to different schools and they’re starting to understand that the moment the weather starts to change, they’ve got a 99-percent chance this relationship is not going to work. I know that myself and a lot of people have been there before, wishing the fireworks stage doesn’t have to end.”

In addition to Where We Started, Rhett will be completing his record from this year, Country Again, with a Side B. This album is also due out in 2022, giving Thomas Rhett fans plenty of new material to watch out for next year.

Aaron Lewis: Frayed At Both Ends

Album Release Date: January 28, 2022

Staind’s lead singer Aaron Lewis spent some time recording in Nashville, taking his conservatism and recent political outrage to the studio. The product of Lewis’ time there is his upcoming solo country album Frayed At Both Ends. The album will include the anthemic “Am I the Only One,” in addition to his recent single “Goodbye Town.”

“Big heartache is part of it,” said Lewis in Loudwire. “Country music takes on the tough stuff, the doubts and the working harder to just stay where you are. Writing with guys like Dan Tyminski, who’s sung on some of my earlier records, Jeffrey Steele, Ira Dean, David Lee Murphy and Chris Wallin all have the same sense of what this is, so I can’t wait for people to get to hear this record.”

Since The Mountain Dierks Bentley has released two highly successful singles, both unattached to albums. “Gone” and “Beers On Me,” the latter of which has sparked his upcoming 2022 tour. Though we don’t know exactly when Dierks Bentley will release a new album, the artist has promised us sometime in 2022. Whether its traditional or progressive, nostalgic or a whole new sound, we are stoked for what Dierks Bentley has in store for his 10th studio album.

Jason Aldean: Georgia

Album Release Date: April 22, 2022

Back in September, Jason Aldean foretold a massive album release of around 30 new songs. But he warned, he would be rolling out the album a little bit differently this round. Last week (Nov. 12) Jason Aldean delivered on half of the new music promised, with the 15-track long Macon. With the new album release came word on the other 15 songs, which are set to come out April 22nd beneath the album titled Georgia.

By titling this huge project after his hometown, the Macon-born-and-raised country singer continues the musical history of this southern spot. A mix of both old, new, and live, Macon, Georgia, above all, promises a good time.
