Pink’s New Album, ‘Beautiful Trauma’, Out This Friday

There are many, incredibly anticipated albums set to drop this Friday, Oct. 13th, including St. Vincent’s MASSEDUCTION, Beck’s Colors, and Courtney Bartnett & Kurt Vile’s Lotta Sea Lice. But the album we absolutely can’t wait to get our hands on is Pink’s latest offering, Beautiful TraumaJust last week, Pink announced a short Apple Music documentary about the making of Beautiful Trauma, in addition to releasing the record’s third single. “Whatever You Want“, a rousing power ballad, is Pink’s testament on the resilience of love. You can check out the newest single below.

It seems that Pink has deliberately veered in a more upbeat, positive direction from her previous releases. “There was no other goal than to not have an album full of slow, sad songs, because that’s all I had for a while,” the singer told EW. “And I just wanted to record better than I have before.” In the Apple Music documentary, you hear Pink describe the chaos of being a working mother and famous musician. “You’re in dance rehearsals and maybe you’re on a festival tour at the same time over here, and you’re getting ready for your regular tour so it’s rehearsals and it’s putting on shows. Then, your six-year-old has surf camp, and your eight-year-old has a vaccination. And then, your album is out.”

Jack Antonoff, lead singer of Bleachers and a growing presence in the production side of the pop music industry collaborated with Pink on the album’s title track, which was released earlier this month. Bleachers will join Pink on some of her concert dates throughout April and March. The ‘Beautiful Trauma’ World Tour will be the star’s first since her ‘Truth About Love’ jaunt wrapped up in 2014. And from the recent press, it seems that Pink is very excited to be reunited with her fans.

Beautiful Trauma arrives nearly two decades after she first crashed the top 10 with her debut single, “There You Go.” Thematically, Beautiful Trauma leans on several of Pink’s mainstays: fear, anxiety, recovering one’s own strength, the danger of falling in love. But unlike previous albums, she has some incredible studio wizards in the booth with her, primarily Max Martin, Jack Antonoff and Greg Kurstin, who decided to focus on showcasing Pink’s incredible vocal range in just about every track.

The 40-date ‘Beautiful Trauma’ World Tour kicks off in Phoenix on March 1, 2018 and will take Pink through North America to the beginning of June. Pink tickets for the ‘Beautiful Trauma’ Tour will go on sale to the general public on Friday, October 13th (the same day Beautiful Trauma will be released), through Live Nation.
