Pitchfork Music Festival Announces First Wave of Performers

In the same fashion as years past, Pitchfork Music Festival—one of Chicago’s premier Summer Music Festivals—is unveiling their lineup in three waves over the next few weeks. Chicago natives can witness the rolling announcement via a hand painted mural in Wicker Park, which is also being live streamed on Pitchfork.

The first round of announcers has been revealed, and among the names are Tame Impala,—who will serve as headliner—Kelela, DRAM, Japandroids, and Julien Baker. You can view the livestream here.

The 2018 Pitchfork Music Festival will take place July 20-22nd in Chicago’s Union Park. This will be the 13th year the festival brings together fans of all genres, ranging from rap to indie rock to acoustic. Though it’s much smaller than Lollapalooza, Pitchfork has garnered quite the reputation while taking residence in Chicago, and has definitely helped diversify the local music scene.

“With 50 individual vendors, as well as specialty record and craft fairs, the festival works to support local businesses while promoting the Chicago arts and food communities as a whole,” the site adds. “We maintain a commitment to keeping ticket prices low, providing new and useful amenities, and working with the city’s best local vendors each year.”
