PNC Park History and Overview
PNC Park is located on the North Shore of Pittsburgh at 115 Federal Street, and is home to the Pittsburgh Pirates. PNC Park’s backdrop is the downtown Pittsburgh skyline and the Roberto Clemente Bridge, providing one of the best views of a team’s city in any Major League ballpark. All seats in the park offer views of the Pittsburg skyline expect for the bleacher sections. PNC Park was opened for the 2001 season, and has a capacity of 38,362. For the Pirates first playoff series at PNC Park in 2013, an attendance record of 40,493 was set on October 7th.
Pittsburgh Pirates Best Seats
The best seats for a Pittsburgh Pirates game at PNC Park are located in the sections behind the plate and surrounding the infield, in sections 9-24 and 109-124. If these sections are a bit out of your price range, the seats near the foul poles are also a nice option. Since PNC Park is so small there truly isn’t a bad seat in the house, and each seat will provide a view of the Pittsburgh skyline except for the bleacher seats, where you will find the rowdiest of fans.
Pittsburgh Pirates Premium Seats
The Pittsburgh Pirates and PNC Park do not offer many amenities and options when it comes to premium seating. The seats along the infield in the lower section do not come with any additional amenities, nor do the seats behind home plate. If you are looking for more bang for your buck at PNC Park, you should consider seats in the All You Can Eat seats in sections 146-147. These include the standard ballpark meals of hotdogs and crackerjacks, but unfortunately no alcohol is included.
Pittsburgh Pirates Seats in the Shade
Since the vast majority of seats at PNC Park are on the field level (26,000), there aren’t many seats that will protect you from the suns rays during day games. Your best bet to get out of the sun would be in the last few rows in the 100 level, but neither baseline provides a benefit as far as shadows are concerned. Our advice, don’t leave for a Pittsburgh Pirates day game without sunscreen and some shades.
Pittsburgh Pirates Dugout and Bullpen
The Pittsburgh Pirates dugout is located in front of sections 20-23 and the visitors dugout is located in front of sections 10-13. The Pirates bullpen is located in Left-Center field next to section 138, with the visitors bullpen located right in front of the Pirates bullpen
Pittsburgh Pirates Food Options
Although PNC Park doesn’t offer extra amenities in the seats, the food stands are among some of the best in baseball. Make sure you stop by the BBQ Pitt near section 211 for classic BBQ options like pulled pork or Texas style brisket. Near section 213 you will find Bierbauer’s Grill, which offers your classic ballpark fare. Finally, stop by Gunner’s near sections 214-216 for drinks in a club environment, which includes locally made sausages and hot dogs with a tremendous array of toppings for you to choose from.
Pittsburgh Pirates Autographs
Up until 45 minutes prior to game time (or at the conclusion of batting practice), Pittsburgh Pirates fans have a chance to score autographs from their favorite players. Ticket holders in sections 10-13 and 20-23 will have the easiest time doing so, as these are the sections where the players will be.
Handicapped & ADA Seating at PNC Park
For those who are confined to a wheelchair and/or those looking to attend a game at PNC Park with somebody who is, there is some important information that you’ll want to know. If you’re seeking ADA or handicapped seating, you’ll find that there are accessible rows at the top of most sections within the ballpark and spread throughout. If necessary, folding chairs will be provided with guests, such as ones looking to sit with a fan confined to a wheelchair. One trick you can use to filter tickets that are handicapped or ADA accessible is by using our “Additional filters +” button on the event page that allow you to select “ADA (wheelchair accessible),” which shows all seats that the seller has marked as handicapped seating.
