Queen News | Band Confirms Two New Albums & Unreleased Content
Guitarist Brian May has just confirmed that a new Queen album is heading our way. Titled Queen Forever, it will be a compilation record including new material. What exactly is new material, you ask? Well, it’s previously unreleased tracks sung by Freddie Mercury. That’s what.
May says the songs were originally recorded in the 1980s, “when we were in full flight,” so you can expect that classic Queen sound this time around, as well. “With Freddie singing and all of us playing,” May said, ” they’re quite beautiful. It’s kind of the big, big ballad and the big, big epic sound.” May also said he has been working on a sequel to the hit Queen musical We Will Rock You, which ended it’s run on London’s West End just last month after 12 years.
All this news comes on the heels of another recent announcement from the band: the release of a separate-but-also-new live album titled Live At The Rainbow ’74. That album will come out on September 8 in a variety of formats including a DVD with live footage. The show was recorded at London’s Rainbow venue in March of 1974, over 40 years ago. The album was supposed to be released after that show, but it was overshadowed by the release of their breakthrough studio album Sheer Heart Attack. Queen Forever has no current release date, but the band has confirmed that they will release it before the end of 2014.
You can catch Queen touring North America with Adam Lambert now. Stay tuned for more updates about Queen’s upcoming albums.
