SZA Shares New Solange-Directed Video for “The Weekend”

It’s been an eventful year for SZA, to say the least. From dropping the critically acclaimed CTRL, to being the most nominated female for this year’s Grammy Awards, SZA has made quite the debut. If anyone had doubts that TDE’s young signee would deliver, they definitely know better now. To round out what has likely been the craziest year of SZA’s life, the R&B singer has dropped a Solange-directed video for her hit single “The Weekend”.

The minimalist music video features a single SZA in the balcony of a modern building and dancing in a parking lot. Much like her concerts and late night show performances, SZA doesn’t need to pull any antics in order to command your attention. Her visuals for “The Weekend” perfectly suit the honest, empowered reflections throughout CTRL. Not to mention how working with Solange is a treat in itself.

SZA’s “The Weekend” video is a subtle, modern, and beautifully rendered piece. Currently, SZA is finishing up touring in promotion of CTRL, but we’re hoping she decides to schedule more dates for 2018.
