The 1975 Embrace Joy in New “Sincerity is Scary” Music Video

November 24, 2018 by

We’re nearing the release of The 1975’s third LP, A Brief Inquiry Into Online Relationships, due November 30th. The album will feature already released singles “TOOTIMETOOTIMETOOTIME”, “Love It If We Made It”, and “Give Yourself a Try”.

In their latest music video for “Sincerity is Scary“, Matt Healy embraces joy. He walks jauntily down the block as if a guest on Sesame Street. He finds a small choir, a marching band, and a little girl dressed in clown blanc. Check out the uplifting and highly entertaining “Sincerity is Scary” visuals below.

The clip, directed by Warren Fu, features a brighter side of Matt Healy and The 1975’s discography. With an upbeat pulse, a happy horn line, moving gospel parts and bouncy production, “Sincerity is Scary” provides a lush musical landscape for joyful moments. If Matt Healy is breaking out Gene Kelly-inspired dance moves on the sidewalk, the song must be a good one.

And it is. Every song we’ve heard from A Brief Inquiry Into Online Relationships has moved us. Though less moody and somber, The 1975 hasn’t forsaken quality of content. They are so talented as to say: Happy songs can be good songs, too.

The 1975 has recently announced a 2019 North American tour, which begins this March in Guadalajara, Mexico and concludes in Toronto, Ontario. Not to mention, the band is planning to issue a companion LP, Notes on a Conditional Form, in 2019. Thank goodness Matt Healy and Co. appear to be well, and in particularly peppy form, as a huge year is on the horizon for The 1975.
