This past Friday, The Rolling Stones kicked off their long-awaited, “No Filter” World Tour at Chicago’s Soldier Field. After having to cancel their previously scheduled tour dates earlier in the Spring so that Mick Jagger could undergo heart surgery, fans were beginning to wonder if The Stones were finally tapped of that legendary, on-stage energy. If The Stones of the past would remain just that: a relic, never to be seen again.
But that worry dissipated Friday night in the Soldier Field audience, when The Stones arrived thundering from the gate with “Street Fighting Man“. Turns out it only took three months for Mick Jagger to recover his swagger—after a heart valve replacement. And in honor of The Stone’s continued reign, the “No Filter” Tour stops have all been outfitted with a proper runway for Jagger to strut, emphatically point, and remind us of their indestructible spirits.
The Stones have set themselves up to deliver 20-song shows, such as Friday night’s, where they ran from hits such as “Brown Sugar,” “Tumbling Dice,” “You Can’t Always Get What You Want,” “Sympathy For The Devil,” “Paint It Black,” and more. All the while, a reinvigorated Jagger, acclaimed guitarists Keith Richards and Ronnie Wood, and the powerhouse drummer Charlie Watts were in excellent form. Potentially, the best in a very long time.
What can fans expect on The Stones’ “No Filter” World Tour? A two hour long, greatest hits set. Very few surprises, no covers, nothing from their most recent album 2016’s Blue & Lonesome. A two-song encore, featuring “Gimme Shelter” and “(I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction,” a double punch of epic proportions. The Stones are known for delivering one of those transcendent shows, concerts that pain you to leave. Check out the full “No Filter” Setlist, below.
