The Script Concert Setlist
The Script put on an amazing concert, in no small part aided by their vast repertoire of chart-topping singles. Check out the latest Script concert setlist, and keep your eye for the surprise song they almost never play!
The Script consistently start with the upbeat banger, Good Ol’ Days, and they could not choose a better song to kick off the concert off. Hip, fun, and high-energy, Good Ol’ Days, from their third album, has never failed to get the crowd roaring to its feet.
Quickly transitioning into the addicting, highly-emotional, poetically lyrical songs that have garnered The Script a cult following, We Cry packs a powerful punch that has to be experienced live.
If you don’t know Hall of Fame, you’ve been living under a rock. The hit single off their last album, #3, Hall of Fame topped charts around the world. While I’ve never heard of The Script not playing Hall of Fame since it was released in 2012, its placement in the lineup is somewhat dubious. I’ve seen it be the third song in the list, and the last. The last time I saw The Script in concert, they transitioned out of an instrumental piece that gave Danny sometime to down some water, into a high-tempo prelude of Hall of Fame. It was the perfect way to build the energy of the crowd, and by the time they broke into the first lyrics, everyone who could see it coming was ready to rock.
Thinking about it now, Science and Faith may be my favorite song by The Script. The way it combines a quit sentimentality in every verse, with a heart-stopping swell of a chorus is unparallelled. It’s song that moves you internally, and gets you moving externally.
The Script aren’t one to shy away from the heart-wrenchers. The Man Who Can’t Be Moved was arguably their first big hit, and with its ingenious storytelling interwoven with romantic lyrics that are too sincere to sound cliche, The Script never fail to win with The Man Who Can’t Be Moved.
Another amazing song, with fast-paced lyrics, and a great energy. What more is there to say?
“And I wish you could give me the cold shoulder, and I wish you could still give me a hard time.” Not The Script’s first song about a breakup gone wrong, and it certainly won’t be their last.
Oh, hey, look, another song about unrequited love! All kidding, Talk You Down is an amazing song, and The Script always perform it well. 🙂
One of the happier and more upbeat songs off the #3 album, Give The Love Around gives a slower tempo, and most people in the stands take this chance to take a seat and relax a bit before they pick it up for the next song.
A slower, sadder song, but it still carries it’s own energy to the crowd, especially on the chorus.
“This song is about the giving of everything you have to the person you love. It’s a song called ‘I’m Yours’.” – Danny O’Donoghue, before playing I’m Yours in Dublin during The Script’s homecoming show.
If any song reflects the essence of The Script’s latest album, #3, this is it. The Script have said many times that one of the biggest inspirations for the music from #3 was lead singer Danny O’Donoghue’s recent breakup.
Besides Good Ol’ Days, this is the one other song The Script often start their shows with, and looking at the performance in Dublin below, it’s not hard to see why.
Their most famous song, and the one that made them mainstream.
If you get to see The Script perform If You Could See Me Now in person, you are a lucky person. About the death of lead singer Danny O’Donaghue’s father and guitarist Mark Sheehan’s parents, The Script decide on a show-by-show basis whether or not they will play this song. If you look closely, you can see the moment when they look at each other and make a silent, but unanimous decision to either play it or not. I’ve only been lucky to see If You Could See Me Now performed live once.
Ending with For The First Time not only combines the sweet emotional appeal and high energy of The Script, but it lets all of us in the crowd sing “Ohhhh, these times are hard. Yeah, you’re making us crazy. Don’t give up on me baby!” as The Script waves goodbye and walks off stage.
