What is The Sphere in Las Vegas?

The orb-shaped entertainment venue cost $2.3 billion to build. The Sphere features a 580,000-square-foot surface made up of 1.2 million LED discs.

It’s the largest spherical building ever built, and it’s truly a spectacle. At 366 feet tall and 516 feet wide, it’s hard to miss the Las Vegas skyline. The outside screen broadcasts images of a giant eyeball, an emoji face, a tennis ball, and other images.

Inside the Sphere is 875,000 square feet of entertainment space. The curved amphitheater features a 16K screen measuring 160,000 square feet, making it the world’s largest high-definition LED screen. The screen uses 167,000 speaker drivers, 1,586 loudspeaker modules, and haptic features.

Some of the seats can move, rock, and vibrate to performances. The theater also uses wind, smell, hot or cold temperatures, and other sensory experiences to transport guests to a different world.

When Did the Sphere in Las Vegas Open?

After five years of construction, the Sphere opened in Las Vegas in September 2023. The Sphere got off to a bang, offering a 25-show residency featuring U2

The legendary rock band performed for two hours on opening night, utilizing all the mesmerizing features. Many prominent entertainers and athletes were also in attendance, including LeBron James, Oprah Winfrey, Matt Damon, and Jason Bateman.

How Many Seats Are in the Sphere Las Vegas?

The Las Vegas Sphere (formerly the MSG Sphere) is gaining popularity, and many people are seeking seats. This music and entertainment arena can accommodate up to 20,000 guests, including those in the standing-room-only area. The Sphere in Las Vegas has a seating capacity of 18,600.

The venue incorporated haptic technology into 10,000 of the seats. This feature allows guests to feel various atmospheric events during the show. The seat numbers cover around two-thirds of the inside of the Sphere, with the stage covering the rest of the space.

The Best Seats in the Sphere Las Vegas

The best seats in the Sphere depend on each guest’s preference. The Sphere features nine levels, including a VIP club and 23 suites.

The 100 level is located beneath the upper levels, and while seats in the first 29 rows of the 100s provide full views, there are some issues with obstructed seats at The Sphere, which are detailed below.

If you want an unobstructed seat view from the floor close to the stage, opt for the lower 200 or 300 levels, particularly sections ending in 5, 6, or 7, as they’ll be closer to the stage (Sections 205, 206, and 207, for example).

The consensus best seating at The Sphere Las Vegas is in the center 200 sections, where you’ll have the best views of both the stage and the screen.

The 400-level offers incredible views of the entire screen, situated higher up in the venue and further back from the stage. The tradeoff for being higher up in a venue like this is the incredible immersive views of the LED screen that encompasses the concert venue’s walls and ceiling.

General admission tickets don’t guarantee physical seats (they’re standing room only), but they allow access as close to the stage as anywhere in the venue, where you will have a good view of the performers and the screen from the ceiling. Many fans find GA Sphere tickets to be the best in the building because you’re closest to the action, though they note that to see the LED screen and all of the visuals, you’ll have to prepare to look up rather than straight ahead.

Obstructed View Seating at The Sphere

Guests sitting in rows 30 and above in the 100-level should be aware that they may not be able to see the screen at the top of the Sphere, which is perhaps the biggest draw of the entire venue. Remember this when booking seats to avoid an obstructed view.

The obstructed Sphere views are caused by the overhang of the upper-level sections above the 100s, beginning with the 200-level and higher.

If you wish to avoid all obstructed seats, you can use TickPick’s “Hide Obstructed / Partial View” filter by clicking on the button in the example below. Also note that all obstructed view seats will have the eye with a slash through it icon, so you can easily avoid those.

Is There ADA or Accessible Seating Available at The Sphere?

Guests can enter through Sands Avenue and use the East or West Entry points. If you’re coming from the Venetian Resort, the Venetian pedestrian bridge is another accessible entrance.

Guests with service animals are permitted to bring them inside the Sphere. You should contact the Sphere’s Accessibility Services Department to let them know you or someone in your party brings a service animal.

Guests with special dietary needs are permitted to bring food. This exception applies to individuals with a medical condition or specific concerns that require bringing outside food or beverages. Contacting the Accessibility Services Department before visiting will ensure a stress-free entry into the venue.

Where Is the Sphere in Las Vegas?

Commonly referred to as the Sphere and previously known as MSG Sphere (Madison Square Garden Entertainment), the entertainment venue is situated just off the Las Vegas Strip. Since it’s such a massive structure, the Sphere reshaped the skyline in Las Vegas.

The screen makes it a bright spot in an already bright space. Guests can enter the Sphere’s property on Sands Avenue or Westchester Drive. There is a Plaza Entry on the east side of the building to welcome guests. You can also access the Sphere over the pedestrian bridge connected to The Venetian Resort.

Parking is available around the Sphere and can be bought in advance. At the corner of Sands Avenue and Koval Lane, there is also an area for rideshare pick-up and drop-off.

Don’t worry about figuring out where to go on event days. Plenty of Sphere staff are on-site to point you in the right direction. However, it doesn’t hurt to arrive early, especially if you’re driving, since there may be street closures.

Their goal is to revolutionize entertainment venues, starting in Las Vegas. The Sphere’s cutting-edge technologies are helping others reimagine entertainment venues. Dolan hopes to take the Sphere concept worldwide.

The company’s portfolio also includes MSG Networks. They operate two regional sports and entertainment networks, MSG Network and MSG Sportsnet. These stations show different live sports content and original programming.
