Because we like to be ahead of game when it comes to upcoming concerts, we here at TickPick are speculating as to who is going to tour in 2015. Headlining the Made in America Festival is Toronto-based rapper The Weeknd, and we think this could mean an upcoming tour to follow. Lana Del Rey has been teasing her upcoming album Honeymoon for quite some time now, and since it’s release is happening soon, we hope she extends her tour for a truly “Endless Summer”. Though several artists in question haven’t confirmed their tours, we think that announcements could be coming within the next few months. Here is our list of suspected Upcoming Tours for 2015, packed with confirmed tours, tours that will likely be announced sometime this year, and tours that could be in their planning stages. From what we can tell, 2015 is going to be an amazing year for music lovers.
Will Lana Del Rey Tour in 2015?: Probably.
Lana Del Rey, who is now off of her “Endless Summer Tour”, is slated to release her upcoming album Honeymoon sometime in September. Since a date hasn’t been confirmed for Honeymoon’s release, we’re wondering if the album will drop Beyonce style, without any further warning than what we’ve been given. And if she announces a tour at the same time, we wouldn’t be surprised. For a tour which was titled “Endless Summer”, it ended way before summer did, but this may just be temporary before Lana announces another tour. We think it’s definitely possible. Very few artists neglect to tour after dropping an album, so until Honeymoon makes it’s debut, I guess we’ll have to keep our fingers crossed.
Will Miley Cyrus and the Flaming Lips Tour in 2015? Maybe.
Wayne Coyne of the Flaming Lips has teased a few songs from his collaborative album with Miley Cyrus, including a track with Big Sean. So far, the seven-track album is untitled, but Coyne has teased the title “Tangerine” to fans over Instagram. Miley and the Flaming Lips have been performing on and off together for the past year, with their duos ranging from debuting new psychedelic pop tracks, to covering the Beatles. So will Miley Cyrus and the Flaming Lips embark on a nationwide tour once they drop their upcoming collaborative album? Maybe. It’s a good sign that neither of them are doing much else besides working on the album and performing as a unit, with the exception of Miley’s stint at hosting the 2015 VMA’s. And for more updates on her possible upcoming tour, we suggest tuning in.
Will Disclosure Tour in 2015? Yes.
Disclosure has been confirmed for their upcoming tour for a few months now, but we think it’s worth mentioning again because the electronic duo could potentially have some incredible guests along this tour. Though nothing has been confirmed, we wouldn’t be surprised if Sam Smith showed up for a few dates, in addition to Lorde, Miguel, and The Weeknd, who all appear on the tracklist of Disclosure’s upcoming record, Caracal. After last year’s success of their debut album, which included hit single “Latch”, Disclosure has quite enough momentum and hype surrounding them to put on a truly incredible tour this fall. And if their collaborators aren’t busy touring themselves, we bet fans will be in for some great surprises.
Will the Grateful Dead Tour in 2015? Yes, kind of.
Last month, The Grateful Dead said “Fare Thee Well” with a spectacular five-night, two city concert. But little did the deadheads know that they would have the opportunity to see the iconic jam band again this fall, but with a couple of added band members in tow. John Mayer, who we haven’t seen produce a new record’s worth of material since the 2013 release of Paradise Valley, will be filling in for the late Jerry Garcia, while Oteil Burbridge will come in on bass. The group is calling themselves Dead & Company, so when you’re buying tickets for this upcoming Grateful Dead tour, be sure to search for their new nomer. Dead & Company will be making their debut on Halloween, on the Madison Square Garden stage. We know it’s a little early to be making your Halloween plans, but if you live in the NYC area, Dead & Company will probably be the best option you have for the holiday.
Will N.W.A + Eminem Tour in 2015? Maybe.
After the three remaining members of N.W.A—Ice Cube, DJ Yella, and MC Ren—reunited for the first time in 26 years at the BET Awards, rumors began to fly about an upcoming N.W.A tour. The performance was largely due to the upcoming movie release of Straight Outta Compton, a biopic about the rap collective’s emergence from Compton and into the eyes of the police. But the performance sparked much more than movie buzz. Not only has it been rumored that the iconic west coast rap group will go on tour again, but there has been talk of N.W.A being joined by Eminem on said tour. Unfortunately, Eminem and Dre have shut down any talk of this N.W.A reunion tour. But because we want to stay hopeful, we think there could at least be a few N.W.A concerts, especially with Dre being back on the front of new music with the release of Compton.
Will Coldplay Tour in 2015?: Probably
We are afraid that the end is near for one of the world’s favorite bands. Coldplay has stated that their next record, A Head Full of Dreams, could be their last. “It’s our seventh thing, and the way we look at it, it’s like the last ‘Harry Potter’ book or something like that,” frontman Chris Martin explained. “Not to say that there might not be another thing one day, but this is the completion of something.” Of what is to come, we’re not exactly sure. Following the release of sixth studio record Ghost Stories, Coldplay refrained from touring. But with the announcement of A Head Full of Dreams, the band has also confirmed a subsequent tour. We didn’t think that Coldplay would leave their fans without a final tour, but we’re relieved with the announcement nonetheless. For more info regarding the final Coldplay tour, stay tuned!
Will Kanye West Tour in 2015?: Maybe.
Okay, I know we’ve been saying Kanye West will probably announce his upcoming tour sometime soon, but really, it has to be soon. Kanye’s follow-up to Yeezus is now officially and finally past the planning stage. Though not definitively titled (since he has changed the title a few times now), reports lend to the album being titled SWISH, and don’t ask us why. SWISH will include already released tracks “FourFiveSeconds”, “All Day” and “Only One”. Maybe, just maybe, Kanye will decide to tour with one of his collaborators on the new album. Rihanna was found auctioning off a VIP package for the “Kanye West Tour Experience” last year. Could this mean they will be touring together? We think it’s definitely possible.
Will Carly Rae Jepsen Tour in 2015?: Yes
Now one of the biggest pop acts in the industry, Carly Rae Jepsen is getting ready to release her third studio album, E-MO-TION. Jepsen has already released three singles from the album, the contagious “I Really Like You”, the moody Dev Hynes produced “All That” and “Run Away With Me”, a more personal track about Jepsen’s life as a jet-setting artist. Jepsen is about to wrap-up her mini promotional tour for the album, but we’re pretty certain the artist will be announcing a larger, perhaps even worldwide tour after E-MO-TION has hit the shelves. The album, which is already released in Japan, has already been coined as “pretty much the best pop album of the year”. We’re pretty excited for Jepsen, and we hope an official north american tour announcement happens soon!
