Music Video: “King’s Dead” feat. Kendrick, Future, Jay Rock
“King’s Dead”, the Kendrick, Jay Rock, Future, James Blake single from Black Panther: The Album now has a video. Multi-talented TDE member Dave Free directed the sexy, dizzying, and dangerous visuals for “King’s Dead”. Highlights include Kendrick sitting in a tree munching on elote, Future exploring his vocal range from an office building roof, and Jay Rock getting a fresh cut. Check out the raucous new “King’s Dead” music video from TDE below.
“King’s Dead” is from both the upcoming Jay Rock album and Black Panther: The Album, which, if you haven’t already listened to, is essentially a whole Kendrick Lamar and Friends record. Kendrick, who makes a number of uncredited appearances on the album also produced the project. “The magnitude of this film showcases a great marriage of art and culture,” he said to XXL. “I’m truly honored to contribute my knowledge of producing sound and writing music alongside Ryan [Coogler] and Marvel’s vision.”
This Black Panther: The Album visual follows the Dave Meyers and the Little Homies directed video for “All the Stars“, feat. Kendrick and SZA. So far, both Black Panther: The Album music videos are two of the most interesting visuals we’ve seen this year.
Released on Feb. 9th, a week ahead of the film’s release, Black Panther: The Album features 2 Chainz, The Weeknd and Travis Scott, as well as newcomers such as Khalid, Zacari and SOB x RBE. For their first movie soundtrack, Kendrick, TDE and co. definitely raised the bar with Black Panther: The Album.
Look out for TDE’s upcoming project, Jay Rock’s new album, due out this year.
