SZA (pronounced “Sizza”) has been busy touring in promotion of her debut album CTRL, which was recently given the Album of the Year honor by TIME, in addition to five Grammy nods. It’s been a quick ascent to fame since SZA dropped CTRL back in June. CTRL, which was released via Top Dawg Entertainment, featured appearances by Travis Scott (“Love Galore”), Kendrick Lamar (“Doves in the Wind”) and Isaiah Rashad (“Pretty Little Birds”).
Lately, fans have seen a lot of SZA, primarily on TV. Just last night (Dec. 12), SZA followed up an epic Saturday Night Live performance with her rendition of “Supermodel” on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. Shrouded in holiday lights and backed by a swooping arrangement of string instruments, SZA delivered her heartbroken ballad with soaring vocals. You can check out SZA’s performance of “Supermodel” below.
SZA’s captivating debut album CTRL had a mounting critical acclaim, and is exactly what the breakout artists needed in order to become the most-nominated female artist for the 2018 Grammy awards with five nominations, including best R&B song, best new artist, and best urban contemporary album. You can still catch SZA on the latter half of her ‘CTRL Tour’, which we hope extends into 2018.
