Summer is right around the corner, and nothing says summer like being chilln’ outside and listening to live music. If you are in the Northeast like we are, you’ve probably been to a few of the venues that landed on our Top Outdoor Venues list. These are our favorite large venues that draw top talent each and every summer. This list is in no particular order, but you can voice your opinion as to which venue is best in the comments.
The Mann Center – Philadelphia, PA
The Mann Center is located in the Centennial District of Philadelphia and was founded back in 1935. It has a capacity of 14,000, with both standard seating and a general admission lawn area, which is standard for outdoor amphitheaters. In 2015, Ed Sheeran, Phish, and several other notable artists will be performing. Check out The Mann Center Concert Schedule and Tickets.
Xfinity Theatre – Hartford, CT
The Xfinity Theatre (formerly Comcast Theatre) is located in Hartford, Connecticut. This is one of the largest amphitheaters in the country with a capacity of 30,000 (with 7,500 of those seats being covered). This is the go-to venue for summer concerts in CT, with artists like Zac Brown Band, Dave Matthews, and Tim McGraw rolling through this summer. Check out the full Xfinity Theater Schedule with Tickets here.
Xfinity Center – Mansfield, MA
The Xfinity Center, not be confused with the Xfinity Theatre, is located in Mansfield, Massachusetts and has a capacity of 19,900. It was built in 1986 to fill the need for New England to have a large outdoor venue, and the strategic location is within 40 miles of Providence, Boston, Worcester, and Cape Cod. The parking can be a nightmare, but tailgating before is always a good time. Check out the Xfinity Center Schedule with Tickets.
Susquehanna Bank Center – Camden, NJ
Located right on the waterfront of the Delaware River across from Philadelphia, Susquehanna Bank Center (capacity of 25,000) is a great spot to catch live acts in the summer. With the Philly skyline and Ben Franklin bridge as a back drop, this venue brings top talent to the area. The 2015 lineup includes the Foo Fighters, J Cole, and Luke Bryan just to name a few. Check out the complete Susquehanna Bank Center Schedule with Tickets.
PNC Bank Arts Center – Holmdel, NJ
Located right off the Garden State Parkway at exit 116, PNC Bank Arts Center is one of the most successful amphitheaters in the country, putting on 40+ shows each summer. This venues can hold up to 17,500, with 10,000+ occupying the grass GA area. After an unfortunate situation at Ozzfest where two men overdosed, PNC Bank Arts Center sought to eliminate tailgating and drinking altogether. However tailgating and drinking is still permitted for thousands of attendees each summer. You can check out the PNC Bank Arts Center Schedule with Tickets here.
Nikon at Jones Beach Theater – Wantagh, NY
Okay, we lied. Nikon at Jones Beach Theater is the best outdoor venue in the Northeast. Sure, there are other venues on this list that are near the water, but none are ON the water. The original design actually featured a moat (!) and artists were taken to the stage by boat. This was filled in during renovations to add seats closer to the stage, and Jones Beach now has a capacity of 15,000. If you haven’t been here yet, you should be able to find a show on the Jones Beach Schedule with Tickets to get excited about.
