When Does the 2022 Major League Baseball Season Start?

On February 10th, on the last day of the Owners Meeting in Orlando, Commissioner Rob Manfred addressed the media. The topic: Spring Training delay. Previously, the report date for MLB players to start their annual training was the week of February 14th. But owners continue locking out players and took too long to come to a communal decision on a new Collective Bargaining Agreement. There’s tons of reasons why Spring Training is delayed, including unsigned contracts and free agents still in limbo. In other words, there’s just not enough time to prep for Spring Training to start in less than a week.

On March 10th, the MLB announced a new start date. Spring Training starts on the Weekend of March 11th. There’s no time to waste.

When Will the 2022 MLB Season Start?

The MLB season is supposed to start on April 1st, but in true April Fool’s Day fashion, its been pushed out. Spring Training is necessary every MLB player to build up the strength for the coming season in order to prevent injuries. If they don’t have enough time to do that, then regular season games won’t be ready to start on time either.

The new MLB Season start date is April 7th. Turns out, the World Series might not be pushed back this year after all. MLB fans are in for a fairly regular season, though Spring Training will be cut short.

No credits will be issued and the ticket will have no cash value.”

If a game is just postponed, your seat will be saved for the new makeup date. However, a refund won’t be given unless the game is entirely cancelled.
