It’s been three years since Jack White dropped Lazaretto, his sophomore solo album. But he’s been up to plenty in the meantime. White made another record with The Dead Winter, released a compilation of his own acoustic recordings, and co-wrote “Don’t Hurt Yourself” for Beyonce’s Lemonade. And that’s just on the music writing front. White also had a hand in the roots-music documentary American Epic for PBS, in addition to opening his vinyl plant in Nashville and continuing to release albums via Third Man Records.

Recently, Jack White released what appears to be a teaser trailer for a forthcoming album. The new album is apparently titled Boarding House Reachand currently has no release date. You can check out the teaser video below.

The video is a sound-collage of sorts, combining many styles we’ve seen Jack White utilize over the years, and several we have not. From folk acoustic duets and his signature fuzzy guitar sound, to new age electronic, 80’s style hair ballads, and ragtime piano, Jack White’s Boarding House Reach sampler is a wide ranging vat of intrigue. Though we’ve seen Jack White pull off some compelling feats in the past, Boarding House Reach may be the album to top albums past.

Boarding House Reach doesn’t have an official release date, but White has been alluding to its existence for a couple of months now. Back in November, at the Making Vinyl conference in Detroit, White spoke briefly about working on a new album. “It’s a bizarre one. I’ve just got to let it settle. I need to listen to it by myself. I haven’t been able to listen to it by myself for a while.”

For the November 2017 issue of Interview magazine, Jack White conducted a conversation with actor Gary Oldman. “I’ve been recording in New York, Los Angeles and Nashville,” said White when Oldman asked him what he’d been up to lately. “I’ve never recorded in New York or L.A. before. I tried to go to some new places and meet musicians I’ve never met before, and see if I could get to a new place. I’m getting somewhere.”

Jack White has declined any further information regarding his forthcoming project Boarding House Reach, but after this tantalizing taste, we hope to get a full single soon.
