Last year, Radiohead released A Moon Shaped Pool to universal acclaim, leading us to believe that the Thom Yorke led outfit had several more incredible records in their arsenal, despite having been around for over two decades. But more recently, Radiohead band members have pursuing their own, individual projects.

In November, guitarist Ed O’Brien announced that he is at work on a solo album, which will hopefully be completed by the end of Summer 2018. Meanwhile, lead guitarist Johnny Greenwood has been nominated for a Golden Globe with his score for Paul Thomas Anderson’s Phantom Thread. But busiest of all seems to be frontman Thom Yorke, who has recently begun a run of solo shows.

Tuesday night (Dec. 12) Yorke kicked off his solo shows with a set in Los Angeles’ Fonda Theatre. Yorke performed a mix of old Radiohead and solo material, in addition to debuting the new track “I’m a Very Rude Person“. He also performed the unreleased rarity “Two Feet Off the Ground“. You can check out Yorke’s performances at the Fonda Theatre below.

Though this is just the first year Radiohead has been eligible and nominated for induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, fans were disappointed to see the famed institution had passed on them. But Thom Yorke has never been a hog for recognition, and even went so far to schedule a concert in Buenos Aires the night of the ceremonies before Radiohead was turned down.

This year marks the 20th anniversary of Radiohead’s iconic album OK Computera record which continues to be known as a pillar of commercial and artistic success. Earlier this year, Radiohead released the 20th anniversary reissue of OK Computer, which included the previously cut single “Lift”, which has been the only track we’ve seen released from the band since 2016’s A Moon Shaped Pool. Is Radiohead getting ready to release new material in 2018? Or will the iconic band part ways to pursue their own music ventures?

Thom Yorke’s run of solo shows includes a headlining performance at the “Day for Night” Festival in Houston, TX. Most fans and critics believed Yorke’s performance would be a stripped down DJ set of sorts, to the point where the festival felt the need to officially announce that it would be a proper live performance. Will other Radiohead band members make a surprise appearance at the “Day for Night” Festival? Could Yorke be debuting new tracks that will end up on a forthcoming Radiohead album?

According to recent Thom Yorke concert reviews, it appears that the musician can command a stage without any assistance from Radiohead band members. The stage set-up at the Fonda Theatre included three large projector screens and set-ups for two other artists besides Yorke, one of them being longtime Radiohead producer Nigel Godrich. The other was visual artist Tarik Barri, who supplied many breathtaking elements to Thom Yorke’s show.

Since Yorke largely performed from his solo canon, and a new Radiohead album has gone without any mention by pretty much all members, we think 2018 will be a relatively quiet year for the iconic alt-rock band. But don’t fret Radiohead fans, as we think it’s incredibly likely that Thom Yorke and co. will be putting time into their solo ventures instead.

As 2017 comes to a close, we suggest relishing in the 20th Anniversary of OK Computer while you still can. Now unlike before, you can freely listen to all of Radiohead’s records on Spotify, in addition to Thom Yorke’s solo material. Pitchfork did a great job of celebrating the 20th Anniversary of OK Computer by amassing some wonderful essays.
