Alanis Morissette Musical ‘Jagged Little Pill’ Announces Cast

May 24, 2019 by

You oughta know, the new musical inspired by Alanis Morissette’s landmark album Jagged Little Pill has officially announced its Broadway bound cast. Following last Summer’s sold-out, world premiere staging at Cambridge, MA’s American Repertory Theater, Jagged Little Pill will feature six of its original actors at the Broadhurst Theatre this Fall.

Reprising their A.R.T. performances will be Kathryn Gallagher (Netflix’s You), emerging actress Celia Rose Gooding, Derek Klena (Anastasia), Sean Allan Krill (Honeymoon in Vegas), Lauren Patten (Fun Home) and Elizabeth Stanley (On the Town). The cast will be rounded out by Antonio Cipriano, Yeman Brown, Jane Bruce, John Cardoza, Laurel Harris, Logan Hart, Max Kumangai, Ezra Menas, Kelsey Orem, Nora Schell, Kei Tsuruharatani and Ebony Williams. New to the company are Heather Lang and Ken Clark.

Jagged Little Pill features lyrics by Morissette, and music by Morissette with Glen Ballard. Diane Paulus (Waitress) will direct the original story written by Diablo Cody (Juno, Young Adult, United States of Tara). The plot, according to the press release, follows “a picture-perfect suburban family — but looks can be deceiving. When the cracks beneath the surface begin to show, they must choose between maintaining the status quo or facing harsh truths about themselves, their community, and the world around them.”

The musical will feature songs from Alanis Morissette and Glen Ballard’s famed 1995 album Jagged Little Pill—in addition to new material. Rest assured, hits such as “Ironic”, “Head Over Feet”, “Hand In My Pocket”, and “You Oughta Know” are woven into the fabric of the musical. Atlantic Records has partnered with the musical production for an original cast recording.

Previews for Jagged Little Pill begin Nov. 3 at the Broadhurst Theatre, with opening night set for Dec. 5. You can get your Jagged Little Pill tickets now, and we suggest buying soon, as this will undoubtedly be a huge Broadway moment.
