The Top 5 Most Epic DeAndre Jordan Dunks
With reports surfacing this week that Los Angeles Clippers center DeAndre Jordan may have a less than warm relationship with the team’s star point guard Chris Paul, speculation of the big man’s potential exodus via free agency this summer is running rampant.
If the Clippers were to lose Jordan’s presence in the middle, the effects of his departure would undoubtedly have major ramifications for the club on both sides of the ball. Much is made of Jordan’s All-NBA defensive capabilites, but his ability to finish at the basket cannot be ignored.
Here is TickPick’s list of five DeAndre Jordan throwdowns that exhibit not only his importance to the Clips’ offense, but the unbridled fury with which he slams the basketball.
5.)Jordan Climbs the Ladder in Bean Town
While the fans in attendance at TD Garden were wowed by this lob jam from CP3 to DJ, it was the Boston Celtics cadre of Kelly Olynyk, Evan Turner and Isaiah Thomas who had the best view of the throwdown.
Knowing better than to become a bigger part of Jordan’s highlight slam, the trio in white and green cleared the way for the Clippers’ young star to do his thing.
4.)DeAndre Puts Glen “Big Baby” Davis on a Poster
Glen Davis is famously known for his mercurial nature, hence the Big Baby moniker that has followed the big man throughout his career. Needless to say, Davis had plenty to pout over following this posterization courtesy of Jordan.
While not as immediately impressive as some of Jordan’s dunks, this slow-burn highlight displays DeAndre’s ability to adapt to changing circumstances in having to chase the ball down and still have the gumption for a glorious rim-rocker atop the opposition.
3.)Lob and One-Armed Jam vs. Carmelo Anthony and the Knicks
In this big-to-big connection, Clips star Blake Griffin finds DJ for a twisting, sideways, one-armed looper with New York Knicks star Carmelo Anthony in the vicinity.
I don’t know if it’s the fact that it’s against Carmelo or if it’s simply because a man of Jordan’s size contorting and throwing down in such a way is so impressive, but this one seems doubly sweet for dunk enthusiasts.
2.)Alley-Oop Dunk on Brook Lopez
While the previous slam on this list may be more impressive to the layman, the fact that Jordan finishes this alley-oop over a fellow seven-footer in Brook Lopez gives it the edge.
Lopez may not be known for his lockdown defense or his paint protection, but the Brooklyn Nets center remains a rather large obstacle for anyone to dunk over.
1.)Get OUT of Here, Brandon Knight!
It’s been a few years since Jordan served up this epic slam over Brandon Knight, then of the Detroit Pistons, but it remains one of the most disgustingly fierce jams in recent memory.
In seeing a dunk like this, one can’t hope but feel that the NBA would gravely miss the Paul-to-Jordan connection should their alleged rift be enough to send DJ packing.
Hopefully cooler heads prevails and Lob City continues to do its thing for years to come.
