Brief History of Bryant-Denny Stadium

The 15-time national champion University of Alabama Crimson Tide football team has called Bryant-Denny Stadium it’s home since opening its doors on September 28th, 1929. It was originally named after the president of the university at the time George H. Denny, and later updated its name in 1975 to Bryant-Denny Stadium to share the name of the team’s legendary football coach Paul “Bear” Bryant. The stadium has a seating capacity of 101,821, making it the tenth-largest stadium in the world, and all of the ‘Bama faithful combine to make it an extremely tough place for opponents to play.

Bryant-Denny Stadium Premium Seating

Premium seating for football games can be found in the north and south field suites located just a few feet away from each end zone. These suites grant fans access to a climate-controlled setting which includes catered food through halftime as well as separate bathroom access.

The Best Seats at Bryant-Denny Stadium

The best seats in Bryant-Denny Stadium as is the case with most other football stadiums would be the ones nearest the 50 yard line on either side of the field, which would be sections G (which is the home team’s side) or GG (the visiting team’s side). It’s worth keeping in mind that you’ll probably want to start looking in row 15 of these sections and back because anything closer could lead to an obstructed or partial view of the field if players are standing on the team benches in front of you.

Tailgating Options at Bryant-Denny Stadium

There are plenty of parking lots in which you can tailgate before a ‘Bama game. Some things that you may want to keep in mind are that you aren’t allowed to park any vehicles on the quad and that you may only pull trailers with tailgating supplies onto the Quad temporarily for the purpose of unloading your supplies. If you’re looking to cook food on school property, you need to know that you’re limited to using grills only and they can’t be within 50 feet of campus buildings or underneath any tents to avoid fire hazards.

Bryant-Denny Stadium Seat Numbers

Seat numbers at Bryant-Denny Stadium follow a pattern where seat 1 in a section will be closest to the last seat in the lower-lettered section next to it. For example, seat 1 in section Lower C will be the aisle seat next to the highest-numbered seat in section Lower B.   On the other hand, the highest-numbered seat in section GG would be next to the lowest-numbered seat in section HH.

Alabama Crimson Tide Student Section

Most student sections at Bryant-Denny Stadium can be found in the south end zone and they wrap all the way around from section A to section EE in the lower level.  It also spans sections SS 2 through SS 6 in the upper level. Tickets in these student sections can’t be sold or purchased on a secondary marketplace, as students are given season tickets that are NOT transferable.

Where is the Alabama Bench Located?

The Alabama bench is near the middle of the west end of the stadium in front of sections F, G, and H. The visitor’s bench is located on the east side of the stadium in front of FF, GG, and HH.
