Rate Field History and Overview

Rate Field (formerly Guaranteed Rate Field and US Cellular Field) is home to the Chicago White Sox. The ballpark opened in 1991 and holds 40,615 fans for Chicago White Sox Games.

Chicago White Sox Best Seats

The best seats for a Chicago White Sox game at Rate Field are behind home plate or along the infield in sections 125-139. Club-level seats (300 sections) along the infield are also a nice option, as are the seats up the first and third baselines.

There are no seats in front of the scoreboard, which means you should have a good view of it no matter where you’re seated. The two-tiered Fan Deck is A unique vantage point above the centerfield concession stands.

This area is available for private groups and parties, offering a spacious seating arrangement for those who prefer a more open space. The bleachers are great seats in the outfield, as long as you don’t mind sitting alongside the most fevered fans.

Rate Field Seating Chart With Seat Numbers

For the Rate Field seating chart with seat numbers, seat 1 is always closer to the lower-numbered adjacent section. For example, seat 1 in section 121 would be closest to the highest seat number in section 120.

The best seats for a baseball game are closer to the home plate. Going by that logic, if you’re on the left-field line, you’d want a seat with a lower seat number, and on the right-field line, you’d look for a higher seat number. (So remember, don’t think of seat and row numbers as the same thing.)

Chicago White Sox Premium Seats

The Chicago White Sox offer several premium seating options at Guaranteed Rate Field. The United Scout seats, located directly behind home plate, offer the best view in the house and include amenities such as access to a plush lounge, open bar, and pre-game buffet.

The LG Skyline Club seats are located along the first and third baselines. The club offers amenities such as climate-controlled viewing, wait service, a lounge, and a bar featuring HD televisions.

Chicago White Sox Upper Deck Seats

Most of the seating on the Upper Deck is pretty restrictive. Once seated there, you will not be allowed on the lower concourse. Although the most affordable seats in the house are located on the upper deck, they don’t offer as good a view as one might have while seated on the lower levels.

The upper deck is also significantly farther from the field than most other stadiums, and fans have complained that it is too steeply sloped. If you fear heights, this may not be the ideal place for you.

Chicago White Sox Seats in the Shade

If you want to sit in the shade for a Chicago White Sox game at Rate Field, you should stick to seats on the first base side of the stadium. Due to the design of Rate Field, there is little to no hangover from the sections above, so sitting in the final rows in the lower-level sections won’t necessarily protect you from the sun.

The last few rows in the upper deck will fall under an overhang, which will protect you from the sun, but the view of the game won’t be perfect.

Chicago White Sox Dugout and Bullpen Location

The Chicago White Sox dugout is in front of sections 137-143, and the visitors’ dugout is in front of sections 121-127. The Chicago White Sox bullpen is in front of sections 156-158, and the visitors’ bullpen is in front of sections 104-105.

Chicago White Sox Family Activities

You can do other things at Rate Field besides watching the Chicago White Sox, which makes bringing the family easy.

The White Sox have speed pitch machines near sections 162 and 524, and the Rookies Club (near sections 101 and 540) is full of great food for kids. Also, kids 14 and under can run the bases after every Sunday home game.

Rate Field Location

The park is easily accessible, located immediately off the Dan Ryan Expressway. If you’re taking the train, it’s about half a block from the Red Line.

Stellar parking attendants work hard to get you where you need to be, so don’t drive around endlessly trying to find that lost spot.

Covered Seating at Rate Field

Heading to the ballpark in the summer is always fun, but avoiding the harsh sun by sitting in a shaded seat is even better. There aren’t many covered or shaded areas at Chicago White Sox home games, but there are a few.

Of course, there is shade and protection in the enclosed Home Plate Club, but there are a few options for those who don’t want to spend the big bucks for shade or a more intimate experience. Baseball fans will find shade in the back rows of 100-level seating on the first base side of the field and in the back rows of 500-level seats on the same side.

The best shade options are located in rows 30 and above, as well as in sections 117-129. These sections still offer good views of the field while offering some protection from the sun and weather.

ADA Seating at Rate Field

For wheelchair users and/or those looking to attend a game at Rate Field with somebody who is, there is some important information that you’ll want to know. If you’re seeking ADA seating, you’ll find accessible rows at the top of most sections within the venue and spread throughout.

If necessary, folding chairs will be provided for guests, such as those who wish to sit with a fan while using a wheelchair. One trick you can use to filter tickets that are ADA accessible is to use our “Additional filters +” button on the event page, which allows you to select “ADA (wheelchair accessible). This shows all seats that the seller has marked as accessible seating.
