Just a week ahead of releasing his new album Boarding House Reach, rock icon Jack White has announced a series of “intimate”, live shows. The concerts will take place in New York, Los Angeles, and London, and feature White alongside a new touring band. White and co. will perform a combination of songs from Boarding House Reach and “reimagined songs from his catalog,” according to the press release.
Jack White’s main tour in celebration of Boarding House Reach kicks off in April. These shows, additional to his previously plotted tour, will all be “phone free” experiences. Located in the “additional information” section of White’s TicketWeb page, it’s noted that all phones and photo capturing devices will be secured in a “Yondr Pouch” that you will keep on your person, only to be unlocked in “Phone Zones” or when the show is over.
As of late, many artists have taken a vocal stance against the pervasive nature of cell phone use at events. Both Adele and Beyonce have asked their audiences to put their phones down and enjoy the moment in front of them. Ahead of new album releases, Alicia Keys and The Lumineers hired Yondr to provide cell phone pouches, as they were afraid of fans leaking their music ahead of its release. Comedians such as Dave Chappelle and Louis C.K have taken similar approaches, not wanting their new material to spread.
