Justin Timberlake’s New Album Details and Tour Setlist Predictions

February 16, 2024 by

Last month, during a hometown concert in Memphis, Justin Timberlake live-debuted his first new single since 2018’s Man of The Woods. “Selfish” is a smooth, grooving R&B track, one which can be perfectly nestled into the Timberlake canon. Later the same night, Timberlake released a teaser trailer for a whole new album of solo material.

The trailer contained the title of the forthcoming project, his official sixth LP: Everything I Thought I Was. This confirms the acronym Timberlake teased on his Instagram earlier that week (“EITIW”). Check out the Benicio Del Toro-narrated trailer, below.

What can be gathered from the Everything I Thought I Was trailer that will tell us about Justin Timberlake’s new album? The Wes Anderson-inspired clip tells us next to nothing, of course, making it the perfect teaser. But we can look elsewhere for clues and signals as to what fans can expect from Justin Timberlake’s sixth studio album.

Here, we will compile everything we know about Justin Timberlake’s new album and upcoming “Forever Tomorrow” Tour: the album release date, guest appearances, song content, and set list predictions. When will Justin Timberlake release his new album?

Justin Timberlake will release his sixth LP Everything I Thought I Was on March 15, 2024, through RCA Records. Timberlake began teasing the new album in January, first with a wipe of his social media content—the harbinger of a big announcement.

Timberlake dropped the album trailer on January 19, 2024, following his one-night-only hometown concert in Memphis. The official album announcement came just a few days later, on January 25, alongside the release of the lead single “Selfish.”

What will Justin Timberlake’s new album be about?

According to the artist himself, Everything I Thought I Was ranges from the “incredibly honest” to “a lot of f*cking fun.Timberlake told Rolling Stone his new LP is his “most straightforward” album to date, but is “complex within its simplicity”

Timberlake continued, explaining how he came up with the album title. “I was playing it for people around me. They’re like, ‘Oh, this sounds like everything we know you for.’ And then another friend of mine was like, ‘Oh, this sounds like everything I thought I wanted from you.’ It was like that sort of phrase, in one way or another, was in the air. And I thought to myself about how some of the songs are more introspective and some of them are more what I think people know me for.”

Fans can expect Everything I Thought I Was to sound like the legacy Justin Timberlake has paved for himself thus far. Does this mean the album will go without surprises? We think not.

What songs will be on Justin Timberlake’s new album?

Everything I Thought I Was will be an 18-track album, on the longer side, and contain the lead single “Selfish.” We believe EITIW will also contain the two singles Justin Timberlake released last year: the NSYNC-assisted “Better Place” and the Timbaland and Nelly Furtado collab “Keep Going Up.”

On January 27, Timberlake appeared as a musical guest on SNL. There, he live-debuted the second single from his new album. The song is titled “Sanctified” and features  Houston-based rapper Tobe Nwigwe. Check out the live performance of “Sanctified” here.

Who will be featured guests on Everything I Thought I Was?

So far, most of this is speculation. We do know, of course, that Tobe Nwigwe is featured on “Sanctified.” Nelly Furtado and Timbaland can be found on “Keep Going Up.” The reunited NSYNC can be heard on “Better Place,” originally produced for the Trolls Band Together soundtrack.

But we think there will be even more NSYNC reunions on Justin Timberlake’s new album. Last week on The Kelly Clarkson Show, Timberlake hinted at something very exciting. He indicated that the band is working on new music. “We’ve been in the studio,” he said. “So there may be a little something in the future.

We think this likely means that Justin Timberlake will be reuniting with NSYNC for additional tracks on Everything I Thought I Was. We absolutely cannot wait to hear what Lance Bass, Joey Fatone, JC Chasez, and Chris Kirkpatrick have to bring to JT’s latest.

This is a stretch, but go with us. Lately, there have been reignited feud rumors between Justin Timberlake and Britney Spears. The feud came to a head after the publication of Spears’ memoir The Woman In Me, which did not paint a favorable characterization of Timberlake. But Spears has since apologized to Timberlake. She took to her Instagram, writing, “If I offended any of the people I genuinely care about I am deeply sorry.

Flash forward to January, when Timberlake, in front of a NYC audience, seemingly mocked Spears’ initial apology. “I’d like to take this opportunity to apologize to absolutely f–king nobody,” Timberlake said before singing his 2002 hit “Cry Me a River”—a song believed to be inspired by his split from Spears.

But what if this was all for show? A performative build-up to an imaginary, longstanding feud between pop stars and exes? What could be a better way to close the books on this than a Britney Spears feature on Justin Timberlake’s new album?

Look, we know it’s a long shot. But we are starting to get a little suspicious of how quickly this “feud” reignited, and right around the time of his new album rollout. Only time will tell.

What songs will Justin Timberlake perform on the “Forget Tomorrow” world tour?

There are certain songs we know fans will get to enjoy on Justin Timberlake’s upcoming world tour. From his older albums, we guarantee fans will get to hear songs such as: “SexyBack,” “LoveStoned,” “Señorita,” “Cry Me A River,” and “Rock Your Body.”

Fans can also expect to hear from The Tennessee Kids, Timberlake’s backing ensemble since 2015. The Tennessee Kids are essential to bringing that big band swagger, helping Timberlake perform songs such as “What Goes Around… Comes Around,” “Can’t Stop The Feeling,” and “Mirrors.”

Unsurprisingly, fans will get a heavy dose of Everything I Thought I Was. They can especially plan on hearing the two lead singles, “Selfish” and “Sanctified.” “Selfish” will be performed with the help of The Tennessee Kids.
