Kanye West Announces Two New Albums
It’s been a quiet year on the Kanye West front since he cancelled his major “Saint Pablo” tour, was hospitalized for various emergencies, and made a puzzling appearance with then-President-elect Donald Trump. Just a couple months ago, Kanye West was reported to be sequestered off in Jackson Hole, working on new music with some promising names, such as Kid Cudi, Nas, and Travis Scott. Now, Kanye himself has officially emerged from his dark period, returning to Twitter with an inspiring sense of ambition.
On Thursday, April 19th, Ye announced not one but two new albums on the horizon from his camp. First, a solo album comprised of seven songs, due out June 1st, followed by an album with Kid Cudi on June 8th.

Kanye West and Kid Cudi have had a notorious, on-again/off-again relationship since Cudi released his first two albums on West’s G.O.O.D. Music label. But it seems that the two have buried the hatchet and are combining forces to drop a new album under their new moniker. According to his tweets, “it’s called Kids See Ghost,” Mr. West wrote. “That’s the name of our group.”
Def Jam, Mr. West’s label, has yet to comment further on his upcoming album releases. Though Kanye’s methods of delivering such huge news continue to be off-the-cuff, his history of releasing new music is equally strange. Let’s not forget the debuting of The Life of Pablo at his MSG fashion show. And how, even after the tracks had been released via Jay-Z’s Tidal, Kanye continued to tweak his tracks for months to follow.
In addition to announcing the new 7-track solo album, the first new music from West since The Life of Pablo, the rapper has also taken to Twitter to impart philosophical musings and dilemmas to his fans, implying too that he is composing a book of personal ideology. “Some people have to work within the existing consciousness while some people can shift the consciousness,” he wrote.

There’s no telling what to expect from West this time around, but we can be certain that this is the best news we’ve heard in awhile. Stay tuned for more Kanye West updates, as we think the Yeezy hype is just beginning.
