Kroger Field History
Kroger Field was built in 1973 as the Commonwealth Stadium. It originally had a capacity of 57,800, but after renovations, it now has a capacity of 61,000. Kroger Field and its parking garages are all built on an 86-acre plot on the University of Kentucky’s campus in Lexington, Kentucky. On September 15, 1973, the Wildcats played their first game in the stadium against the Virginia Tech Hokies.
Where is the Kentucky Wildcats Sideline?
The Kentucky Wildcats sideline is located along sections 24-28. The visiting team sideline is in front of sections 4-8.
Kentucky Wildcats Student Section
If you’re a University of Kentucky student or want to be closer to the enthusiastic section, you’ll want to be in the student section. The student section of Kroger Field is located in sections 32-40 and in the general admission area behind Section 36.
Kroger Field Club Seats
Longship Club
The Longship Club is part of the stadium’s field club seats and is located in the front half of sections 25-27. In addition to being some of the best seats in the stadium, club ticketholders have chairback seats and access to the lounge. The lounge has dining tables, a bar, TVs, and, of course, lots of food and drinks.
Central Bank Club
Like the Longship Club, the Central Bank Club has some of the best midfield views. It is located in the back half of sections 25-27 and offers the same amenity options as the Longship Club.
Visiting Team Fan Sections
For those who aren’t Kentucky Wildcats fans, the visiting team sections are just for you. At Kroger Field, the visitor seats are located in the lower and upper bowls of the football stadium. You’ll find them in sections 12 and 13 in the northwest corner of the lower level and in the upper rows of sections 201-204 and 207-211.
Best Seats at Kroger Field
Because the club seats have a great view of midfield, they’re considered the best seats in the stadium. Sections 105 and 106 also offer some of the best views and sit directly on the 50-yard line.
Shaded and Covered Seating at Kroger Field
Unfortunately, not a lot of the seats at Kroger Field are shaded. You can find covered seats in Kroger Field in rows 44 and above in Section 20, in Section 103, and rows 44 and above in Section 39.
Parking at Kroger Field
There are Green, Red, Purple, Blue, and Yellow lots around Kroger Field along with extra parking garages around campus open for Kentucky Wildcats game days. Specific directions and rules for parking can be found on the UK’s official website.
Tailgating at Kentucky Wildcats Games
The official site says that “Kroger will host a VIP tailgate event, which will begin two hours prior to kickoff for each home game, in the lawn next to Bluegrass Technical and Community College.” Additionally, “Fans are asked to not set up tents or trailers in the Kroger Field complex prior to noon on Fridays leading up to game day in order to facilitate preparations. Also, all vehicles, tents and trailers must be removed by noon on Sundays following game day.” Find more specific info on their site.
Accessible Seating at Kroger Field
There is accessible parking in the blue lot of Kroger Field. Unfortunately, there isn’t a lot of accessibility info out there for Kroger Field. In order to get the access you require, contact the main UK ticket office at (859) 257.1818.
One trick you can use to filter tickets that are ADA accessible is by using our “Additional filters +” button on the event page that allows you to select “ADA (wheelchair accessible),” which shows all seats that the seller has marked as accessible.
