Lil Wayne Postpones “Tha Carter V” Release...Again

October 28, 2014 by

Unfortunately for Lil Wayne fans, Weezy has reportedly yet again pushed back the release of “Tha Carter V,” which was supposed to come out today. There seems to have been a lot of confusion from the start as to when this album would come out, as even Lil Wayne himself has been hazy on the details all year, and the release date keeps changing. Whether or not this will affect album sales remains to be determined. While postponing the release could increase hype, it can also have the detrimental effect of upsetting fans that have been anticipating it for months, and ultimately discouraging them from buying it.

So when is this thing coming? Will it ever see the light of day? When it comes to “Tha Carter V,” we haven’t been hearing much in terms of updates. Lil Wayne revealed the album’s cover art in August, and he released a few singles from it this year, but the specifics of the album, such as a track listing or pre-order details, are still unknown. He hasn’t set a new release date yet, but hopefully when he does, he’ll stick to it this time. He has confirmed that the album is indeed complete, so all we can do is just wait it out and hope it comes soon. He has also stated in interviews that this album will be his last, so maybe it’s a good thing that he’s taking his time with it. Hopefully it will be worth the wait.

Weezy has been busy lately collaborating with other artists, and he just finished up a joint tour with Drake. He’s featured on Nicki Minaj’s new single “Only,” which was released this morning, so at least his fans got something to make up for not getting the new album today. He and Drake have hinted that they would tour together again to “settle the score” from their previous tour, Drake vs. Lil Wayne, which was an ongoing battle between the two rap giants that ended in a tie. However, that possible tour would come after this album is released, and there’s no word on when that is yet.

Do you think we’ll see “Tha Carter V” before the end of the year? When he does finally release the album, will Lil Wayne do a big solo tour? Is it wishful thinking to expect that in 2015? Will he tour with Drake again so that they can once and for all determine which of them is the better rapper? Drop us a comment with your thoughts.
