It’s been a wonderful month to be a U2 fan, with two new tracks dropping from the band’s forthcoming album Songs of Experience, in addition to the announcement of a two month long coast-to-coast U.S Tour. For their more upbeat, “Beautiful Day” reminiscent track, they recruited the one and only Kendrick Lamar. This isn’t the first time the two collaborated, as K-Dot brought in U2 to assist in the emotionally and politically charged track “XXX”. You can listen to “Get Out of Your Own Way”, clad with a Kendrick Lamar outro, below.
“Get Out of Your Own Way” begins with Bono crooning over a soft electronic pulse and concludes with Kendrick speaking over the Edge’s iconic guitar sound. “The Blackout”, which U2 issued as a live performance video back in August, is now also available on Spotify, along with the new album’s lead singe “The Best Thing About Me”.
U2 is currently wrapping up their Joshua Tree 2017 Tour, which celebrates three decades since the band dropped what is considered their most iconic album. If you weren’t able to catch them on their past tour, you will be able to see U2 live on the 2018 North American leg of their Experience + Innocence Tour, the sequel to 2015’s Innocence + Experience Tour. The tour will kick off May 2nd at Tulsa, Oklahoma’s BOK Center and makes stops at 15 North American arenas before concluding June 29th at Newark, New Jersey’s Prudential Center.
The Experience + Innocence Tour will be the first opportunity for fans to hear Songs of Experience live. Be sure to get your U2 tickets soon. Each ticket purchased will be accompanied by a copy of Songs of Experience, which will be released December 1st. Until then, enjoy the newly released tracks “Get Out Of Your Own Way” and “The Blackout”.
