SAP Center Overview
The SAP Center (formerly HP Pavilion), home to the San Jose Sharks, opened its doors in 1993. Nicknamed the “Shark Tank,” the SAP Center has a capacity 17,562 for hockey games.
San Jose Sharks Best Seats
The best seats for hockey games are as hotly debated as any other sporting event, so there isn’t a clear best seat for a Sharks game. Ultimately, it is all up to personal preference, but generally speaking, if you cannot score front-row tickets on the glass in one of the scoring zones, you want to sit above row 10 in the lower level so you can see plays develop.
The Club seats in sections 102, 114, 116, and 128 are also a great option for any Sharks fan. Whether you prefer to sit behind the net, above or below the glass, or in the corners to watch the puck cross the goal line, any of these best seat options is excellent for in-game action.
San Jose Sharks Bench and Scoring Zone
The San Jose Sharks bench is located in front of sections 101 (seats 1-8) and 128 (seats 22-25), and the visitors’ bench is located in front of sections 101 (seats 15-22) and 102 (seats 1-4). The Sharks shoot twice at the net in front of sections 107-109; the penalty box is located in section 115.
Premium Seating at SAP Center
The San Jose Sharks offer club seating in sections 101-104, 112-118, and 126-128. These seats provide great sight lines of the rink, in-seat wait service, and access to the arena’s various lounges.
The Penthouse Lofts at SAP Center are located above the 200-level section and are ideal for corporate gatherings or private parties. Amenities include premier food options, TVs, and plush leather seating.
Seat Numbers at SAP Center
The SAP Center follows the standard sports arena pattern: the lowest seat number in a given section will be closest to the adjacent lower section. The same rule applies to the 100s and 200s sections. For example, seat 1 in Section 115 would be closest to the highest seat number in Section 114 (seat 24), or the highest in Section 115 (seat 22) would be closest to seat number 1 in Section 116.
The lower-level sections typically have between 21 and 22 seats, although the stairs leading down these sections split the section in half until row 20. In these rows, about 5 seats are skipped in the center of the section. In the upper-level sideline sections, the stairs run alongside the sections, and the seat numbers range from 16 to 28. The corner sections in both levels have seat numbers that vary depending on the width of the section.
SAP Center Reviews
“Very nice arena. Getting in was quick and easy. Staff was friendly and informative. I went for a hockey game and the sound, entertainment and hockey were all nicely done.” – via Yelp
“I had never been to a professional hockey game prior to attending the Sharks vs. Penguins game. I can honestly say, there is not a bad seat in the house. This is an amazing venue that offers everyone in attendance their money’s worth!! I would not hesitate to go back.” – via Tripadvisor
Handicapped & ADA Seating at SAP Center
For those who are confined to a wheelchair and/or those looking to attend a game at SAP Center with somebody who is, there is some important information that you’ll want to know. If you’re seeking ADA or handicapped seating, you’ll find accessible rows at the top of most sections within the venue that are spread throughout.
If necessary, folding chairs will be provided to guests, such as those looking to sit with a fan confined to a wheelchair. One trick you can use to filter tickets that are handicapped or ADA accessible is to use our “Additional filters +” button on the event page. This button allows you to select “ADA (wheelchair accessible),” which shows all seats that the seller has marked as handicapped seating.
