Sunset Music Festival 2015 Lineup Includes Some of the Biggest Names in EDM
Tampa’s Sunset Music Festival takes place during Memorial Day Weekend (May 23-24) this year. The festival is held at Raymond James Stadium and features some of the biggest names in EDM. 2015 Lineup
Tiesto
Dutch DJ/producer Tiesto is indisputably one of the biggest names in EDM. He has established himself as one of the world’s foremost DJs, having released several chart-topping hits and receiving a number of awards and honors, including a Grammy Award. He built up his popularity with his famed six-hour solo live sets, which caused the world to take notice of his skill and led to him becoming one of the most sought-after DJs and remixers.
Skrillex
Skrillex is the stage name of six-time Grammy winner, DJ and producer Sonny Moore. Formerly the lead singer of the post-hardcore band From First to Last, Moore left the band in 2007 to focus on his solo career, leaving the rock genre behind in favor of electronic dance music. It’s safe to say that it was a good career move, as Skrillex has without a doubt become one of the biggest names in EDM. He won three Grammy Awards in 2012, and another three the subsequent year in the same categories, proving himself as a groundbreaking force in the electronic music sphere.
Armin van Buuren
Dutch DJ and producer Armin van Buuren is known for his progressive trance style. He became interested in electronic music at an early age, and began his DJ career in college. He is known for playing extremely long DJ sets – in fact, he set the world record for longest DJ set in 2003, having played for over 12 hours. That’s not the only record he’s set though – he also holds the record for most times listed at the #1 spot on DJ Magazine’s Top 100. Armin van Buuren has been voted #1 an impressive five times, which speaks to his incredible skills as a DJ.
Flosstradamus
Flosstradamus is the project of DJs Autobot and J2K, which began as a series of DJ parties in their home city of Chicago. People took notice of their eclectic style and soon their monthly parties were selling out almost instantly, with people travelling from all over the country to attend. Their newfound fame led to them releasing their own music, as well as taking their performance from the clubs to major festival stages.
Porter Robinson
Porter Robinson is an electronic music artist from Chapel Hill, North Carolina. He began producing music at the young age of 13, influenced by sounds from video games like Dance Dance Revolution. The self-taught producer earned the recognition of Skrillex’s OWSLA label, which signed him for a one-EP deal which turned out to be extremely successful. In the following years, he continued to ascend to fame with more hit singles and remixes. He released his debut album in 2014 and through recent extensive touring has achieved headliner status.
Showtek
Dutch EDM duo Showtek is made up of brothers Wouter and Sjoerd Janssen. The Janssen brothers started producing music in 2001 and have since worked with big names like Tiesto, Hardwell, David Guetta, Chris Brown, and more.
Andrew Rayel
Andrew Rayel is a young DJ/producer from Moldova. He began making music as a teenager, and now at just 22 he is signed to Armin van Buuren’s Armada Music label. Rayel’s debut album, “Find Your Harmony,” came out in 2014.
Audien
Audien is the stage name of EDM producer Nate Rathbun, who began making music in 2008 in a small apartment in the seaside town of Mystic, Connecticut. Since then, his tracks have been featured by DJ acts like Tiesto, Hardwell, Armin van Buuren, and Above & Beyond.
Cashmere Cat
Cashmere Cat is a producer and DJ from Norway. In his early days, he represented his country at the DMC World DJ Championship under the name Final. He gained widespread recognition as Cashmere Cat in 2012 and 2013 with popular remixes of artists like Lana Del Rey, 2 Chainz, and Jeremih. He has also released his own original productions, his most recent issue being his 2013 EP “Wedding Bells.”
Cedric Gervais
Cedric Gervais began his ascent to DJ stardom when he moved from his native Paris to Miami in 1998 when he was just a teenager. Within a few years, he became a very in-demand remixer and producer. Although he was successful early on in his career, his most successful years came more recently. In 2012, his single “Molly” was a huge hit, peaking at number five on the U.K. dance chart. Then in 2013, his remix of Lana Del Rey’s “Summertime Sadness” hit it big in the U.S., U.K. and Australia, reaching the top ten on the pop charts in all three countries.
The Chainsmokers
The Chainsmokers is a production duo based in New York City consisting of Andrew Taggart and Alex Pall. They came to attention last year with their EDM hit single and ode to the modern day club scene “#Selfie.” The Chainsmokers have not yet released a full-length album, but they have issued a number of singles, including their most recent release, “Let You Go,” which came out in March.
Don Diablo
Dutch DJ Don Diablo began his career, signing his first record deal when he was just fifteen. After building up a substantial underground following in the Netherlands, he broke into the international club scene and has worked with artists like Kelis, Alex Clare, and Diplo.
Duke Dumont
Adam Dyment, aka Duke Dumont, is a Grammy-nominated DJ and producer based in London. He has done plenty of well-known remix work for artists like Lily Allen, Santigold, and AlunaGeorge among others, but recently he has had several big hits of his own. In 2013 his big breakthrough came with his original track “Need U (100%),” which hit #1 in the U.K. and was nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Dance Recording.
DVBBS
Brothers Christopher “Chris Chronicles” van den Hoef and Alexander “Alex Andre” van den Hoef make up the dance music duo DVBBS. They are best known for their 2013 collaborative track with Borgeous called “Tsunami,” which was a #1 club hit in several European countries.
Headhunterz
Headhunterz is the stage name of Dutch DJ and producer Willem Rebergen. Formerly a duo along with Bobby van Putten, Headhunterz became a solo act when van Putten left shortly after their first release. Headhunterz became the first hardstyle DJ to be featured in DJ Mag’s top 100, and has made the list every year since 2010.
Keys N Krates
Keys N Krates is an electronic band based in Toronto, Ontario. Formed in 2008, the group consists of turntablist JR Flo, keyboardist David Matisse, and drummer Adam Tune. Between a series of successful singles, extensive touring, and appearances at major music festivals like Lollapalooza and Electric Zoo, Keys N Krates are establishing themselves as an act to watch at the moment.
Noisecontrollers
Hardstyle DJ act Noisecontrollers is led by Dutch producer Bas Oskam, and formerly featured Arjan Terpstra. However, Terpstra recently left to pursue an individual career, and as of 2014, Noisecontrollers operates as Oskam’s solo project.
Oliver Heldens
Dutch music producer Oliver Heldens rose to fame with his 2013 single “Gecko,” which was picked up by major DJs including Pete Tong, who named the track as his Essential New Tune in January 2014. The success of “Gecko”caught the attention of Tiesto, who quickly signed Heldens to his label. Since then, Heldens’ career has really taken off, and he is expected to become a superstar DJ in the coming years.
Robin Schulz
German house producer Robin Schulz rose to fame almost immediately with his first-ever release, a remix of “Waves ” by Dutch rapper Mr. Probz. The track debuted at #1 on the U.K. Singles Chart as well as hitting the top spot in several other countries, and it earned Schulz a Grammy nomination for Best Remixed Recording this year. His second single, a remix of Lilly Wood & The Prick’s “Prayer in C,” was an even bigger success, which led to international recognition for the up-and-coming producer. Following the success of his popular remixes, Schulz released his debut album, “Prayer,” in September 2014.
Sub Focus
Sub Focus is the alias of English producer Nick Douwma. In the last few years, Douwma has gone from humble beginnings as a bedroom DJ to playing headlining sets at Glastonbury. Sub Focus’ latest album, “Torus,” dropped in 2013 and features guest vocalists like Alex Clare and Kele from Bloc Party.
Tchami
Martin Bresso, aka Tchami, is a French DJ and producer. He has done remix work for artists like Janet Jackson, AlunaGeorge, and A Tribe Called Quest. In late 2013, he released his debut EP, “Promesses,” on Fool’s Gold Records.
Thomas Jack
Thomas Jack is an Australian DJ and producer. The young and talented emerging artist is a star quickly on the rise, recently making a name for himself as the pioneer of a subgenre he has christened “tropical house.” Though only discovered a few months ago, Thomas Jack has already established his presence on the internet, landing at the top of the Hype Machine charts an impressive five times with both remixes and original productions.
TJR
California-based DJ/producer TJ Rozdilsky makes music under the name TJR. His eclectic music has been championed by artists like Tiesto, Calvin Harris, Fatboy Slim, Hardwell, Claude Vonstroke, and more. Since his debut in 2008, TJR has become known for popular hits like his original track “Ode to Oi” and his multi-platinum single with Pitbull, “Don’t Stop the Party.”
Arctic Moon
Arctic Moon is the alias of Polish DJ Thomas Popielarski. He began recording in 2004, experimenting with different genres until deciding to focus on producing trance music. The last few years have seen Arctic Moon break into DJ Mag’s top 200 as well as play some of the world’s biggest EDM festivals.
Astrix
Israeli trance DJ Avi Shmailov makes music under the name Astrix. An active DJ since the ’90s, Astrix has played major clubs and festivals all around the world.
Bixel Boys
Bixel Boys are an underground act from Los Angeles who have been making waves with catchy dance tracks that span a number of genres. Their style incorporates everything from house music to old school hip hop to ’70s-inspired rock to German techno, so it’s nearly impossible to shoehorn them into one genre. Bixel Boys’ rising status has recently earned them spots at major music festivals, as well as support from big names like Skrillex and Diplo.
Botnek
Botnek is the duo of Canadian producers Gordon Huntley and Erick Muise. Their music is influenced by electro house, rave, and techno. Botnek’s latest release is an EP called “Sriracha & Beer” that came out in 2012.
Claptone
Enigmatic producer Claptone has joined the hordes of DJs who wear masks when they perform, opting for a gold, birdlike visage as his signature look. Hailing from Berlin, he has gone on to achieve international recognition. In late April, Claptone released his latest single, “The Music Got Me.”
Destructo
Destructo is the alias of DJ/producer Gary Richards. He began performing under the name in the ’90s, deciding to go by Destructo to reflect his goal of playing hard and aggressive techno music. He released his debut EP in 2012 and since then dropped two more on Boysnoize Records.
Duelle
Duelle is the up-and-coming DJ duo of sisters Danielle and Gabrielle Verderese. Having been making music together since 2008, the Verderese sisters are now based out of the EDM hotspot of Miami. Both Danielle and Gabrielle are multitalented artists who can sing, rap, produce, and dance.
Ferry Tayle
Ferry Tayle is the solo project of French DJ and trance producer Ludovic Meyer. He released his first album, “Carnet De Vol,” in 2008. His follow-up sophomore record titled “The Wizard” came out last year.
Hunter Siegel
Toronto-based producer Hunter Siegel has gained considerable notice lately with high-profile collaborations and remixes. He recently released a track with Zed’s Dead and remixed the popular single “Take U There” by Skrillex and Diplo’s Jack U. Siegel’s latest original single dropped in March and is called “Let Me Love You Right.”
Jordan Suckley
Jordan Suckley has made a name for himself as a DJ, producer, and most notably a radio host on BBC Radio 1. His career took off when he was in college, during which time he won a DJ competition and earned the chance to play at Cream in Liverpool. Since then, his profile has grown immensely, and he has been championed by Armin van Buuren, Paul van Dyk, Paul Oakenfold, and others.
Kove
British house/drum and bass producer James Rockhill goes by the stage name Kove. Last year, he released the single “Way We Are,” which peaked at #30 on the UK Singles Chart. Since 2013 he has released three EPs, the latest appearing in October of last year.
Mako
Mako is an electronic duo from Los Angeles comprised of DJ Logan Light and Juilliard-trained composer Alex Seaver. Before coming together in 2011, Light was already a successful DJ, opening for big names like Tiesto and Avicii, while Seaver was successfully scoring for film and television. As Mako, the two artists have released a number of popular singles over the last three years.
Mark Sixma
Having grown up in Breda, the same Dutch city known for producing DJ superstars like Tiesto and Hardwell, it’s no surprise that Mark Sixma got into EDM. With early support from Armin van Buuren, he was able to launch a successful career, and he is now embarking on his first North American tour this year.
MaRLo
Dutch DJ MaRLo has made a name for himself as one of the leading trance DJs residing in Australia. He has received unwavering support from Armin van Buuren, who signed MaRLo to his Armada Music label.
Meaux Green
Up-and-coming DJ Meaux Green has earned the support of EDM heavyweights like Diplo, DJ Snake, Craze, Dillon Francis, and more. He has been featured on shows like BBC 1 and Diplo & Friends, and is well on his way to becoming a main stage headliner in the future.
Mija
LA-based DJ Mija has roots in house music, but she has generally been known to defy genre with her eclectic productions and mixtapes. Her career began as recently as 2012, when she became a DJ in her hometown of Phoenix. In 2014, she was invited to play at Bonnaroo, and later that year won the opportunity to play a set at TomorrowWorld. In addition to attention-grabbing sets at major festivals, Mija gained plenty of recognition when she collaborated with Lil Jon on the track “Crank It,” which was released on Skrillex’s OWSLA label.
MORTEN
Morten Breum, better known as MORTEN, is a Danish producer and DJ currently based out of Los Angeles. He built up a reputation as one of the biggest DJs to come out of Denmark, and with that earned the respect of some of the world’s best DJs like Avicii, Tiesto, Diplo, Axwell, David Guetta, and more.
Moti
DJ/producer Timmo Rome makes music under the name Moti. He has done some pretty major collaborations lately, releasing tracks with artists like Tiesto, Martin Garrix, DVBBS, and more. The up-and-coming producer is planning to release a lot more original tracks soon, so he’s definitely one to watch right now.
Peking Duk
Australian electronic music duo Peking Duk consists of DJ/producers Adam Hyde and Reuben Styles. First coming onto the scene with a popular remix of Passion Pit’s “Take a Walk,” Peking Duk has since catapulted to fame, with several of their most recent singles reaching the top 10 on the Australian charts and achieving platinum certification.
Route 94
Route 94 is the stage name of British producer Rowan Jones. He hit it big in early 2014 with his international hit single “My Love,” which became a #1 in the U.K. and charted in several other countries, partly due to it featuring vocalist Jess Glynne, who at the same time was featured on Clean Bandit’s smash hit “Rather Be.” The track has since garnered over 80 million plays on YouTube, and over 70 million on Spotify.
Sam Feldt
Dutch house music producer Sam Feldt emerged in 2013 when he began uploading his music online. Within a year, he signed with Spinnin’ Records and was soon garnering millions of plays on his SoundCloud page. Feldt’s latest release is an updated remake of the house classic “Show Me Love.”
Slander
Slander is the duo of DJs Derek Andersen and Scott Land, who met as fraternity brothers at UC Irvine and began spinning at frat parties. Their fraternity connections earned them opportunities to play in major clubs and even open for acts like Dillon Francis and Madeon. Soon, they achieved meteoric success, with their music played by artists like DJ Snake, Carnage, and Diplo.
SNBRN
SNBRN is the stage name of Kevin Chapman, a tropical house DJ and producer from Los Angeles. His latest single, “Raindrops,” features Estonian pop singer Kerli and is his first release for Ultra Records. The track has become a huge internet hit, with over 7 million plays on Spotify and over 1 million on Soundcloud.
Solarstone
Formerly a trio, Solarstone is now just English trance DJ and producer Richard Mowatt. He has championed the pure trance movement, taking the concept and turning it into Pure Trance shows as well as releasing several mixes under that name. His idea of Pure Trance seeks to bring emotion and melody back into dance music that has seemed to disappear with the colder, more aggressive approach heard in popular EDM these days.
Trippy Turtle
Trippy Turtle is a Norwegian electronic music producer on the rise. He has gained the support of big names like Diplo and Cashmere Cat, and is often compared to the latter. His live sets are a spectacle, as he rocks a turtle hoodie and bounces around with energy like no other DJ out there.
Viceroy
Viceroy brings his “summertime all the time” motto into his music, making lush, tropical house beats. He has done exclusive remixes for big-name artists like Lady Gaga, Maroon 5, and Passion Pit among others, and has earned #1 spots on Hype Machine and Spotify, proving that he’s definitely a producer to expect big things from.
