Rising to fame in the late 1990s, Shania Twain emerged to become one of the most successful female country artists in the genre’s history. By the time she released her multi-platinum second album The Woman in Me in 1995, she was a Grammy Award winner and a mainstream crossover success. Her next album, the astoundingly 20x platinum Come On Over, came out in 1997 and to this day still holds the record as the best-selling country album of all time. Flash forward to 2015, and Twain is headed out on the road for her first tour in 11 years, still rocking it at almost 50 years old. She has stated that she plans to release a new album once the tour wraps.

Sam Smith is undoubtedly one of the greatest music success stories of the last few years. The soulful English singer initially gained attention when he lent his vocals to Disclosure’s 2012 hit single “Latch.” The next year, he was featured on Naughty Boy’s “La La La,” earning his first number one and international recognition. In 2014, Smith released his debut full-length, In the Lonely Hour, which got him nominated for six Grammy Awards, of which he won four.

Pop singers Christina Perri and Colbie Caillat are joining together for a co-headlining tour this summer, for what they’re cutely calling the Girls Night Out, Boys Can Come Too tour. Both songstresses are promoting albums they released last year. Perri released her sophomore record Head or Heart back in April 2014, while Caillat’s fifth album Gypsy Heart came out last September.

Two great rock bands, Incubus and Deftones, are teaming up for a co-headlining tour this summer. As if that’s not cool enough, they’ll be joined by two more great rock bands, Death From Above 1979 and The Bots, both of whom will serve as opening acts. Incubus recently released a new EP, Trust Fall (Side A), while Deftones plans to release an eighth studio album in the fall. Rock fans won’t want to miss this show, which happens August 17 at the Austin360 Amphitheater.

Though having emerged only a few years ago, Florida Georgia Line has become of the biggest country groups of the last decade. The duo, which features Southern natives Brian Kelley and Tyler Hubbard, released their debut full-length in 2012, selling over 2 million copies and achieving double platinum certification. The record, titled Here’s to the Good Times, soon reached the top spot on the Billboard country albums chart in the United States and produced several #1 singles, including their career-launching hit “Cruise.” Florida Georgia Line came back strong in 2014 with their sophomore record Anything Goes, and as of this year they are touring with support from Thomas Rhett and Frankie Ballard on their Anyting Goes tour.

As the first artist signed to Jay-Z’s Roc Nation label, rapper J. Cole was surely the subject of much attention in 2011. That year, the label released his debut album, Cole World: The Sideline Story, which debuted at the top of the U.S. Billboard 200. He followed that up in 2013 with his equally successful, chart-topping sophomore record Born Sinner. This past fall, J. Cole dropped his highly anticipated third album, 2014 Forest Hills Drive, which again debuted atop the Billboard 200, making it his third consecutive #1 album. Though it has only been out for a few months, the record has already been certified platinum.

Zsuzsanna Ward, otherwise known as ZZ Ward, is a singer-songwriter who has been making waves in the last few years with her interesting and genre-defying blend of blues rock, hip-hop, R&B, and soul. Her breakthrough came in 2012 with the release of her debut album Til the Casket Drops, which was incredibly successful and reached the top 10 on the iTunes Alternative chart. Since then, the previously unknown singer was in obscurity no more, making appearances on late night television, playing major music festivals, licensing her music for film and TV, and selling out 40 dates of her 2013 tour. Later this year, Ward is expected to release a sophomore album titled This Means War.
