HalseyTickets
with Flor
Saturday, October 24, 2015
Halsey is the stage name of New York’s Ashley Frangipane. In true hipster fashion, the New Jersey native took the name of a Brooklyn L train stop to use as her musical alias. She self-released her first single, “Ghost,” and based on the strength and popularity of that song alone she signed a deal with Capitol Records-owned electronic/dance label Astralwerks in 2014. Currently, the young singer is burning up the charts with her newly-released debut album Badlands, which dropped in at #2 on the Billboard 200.

The mixtape featured the likes of Childish Gambino, Ab-Soul, and Action Bronson, and received high praise from major critics from Rolling Stone, Spin, Pitchfork, and NPR among others. Thus far, the 22-year-old rapper has only released a few mixtapes, yet he has earned a high enough profile to be a headliner at some festivals this year. We’re expecting big things from this young talent in the years to come.
Cold War KidsTickets

Gary Clark Jr.Tickets

Austin-based musician Gary Clark, Jr. has been compared to guitar greats like Jimi Hendrix. His sound is an innovative mix of blues, soul, and hip hop, incorporating both modern and classic elements of blues style, and accompanied by smooth vocals. The Texas native recently collaborated with the Foo Fighters on the track “What Did I Do? / God As My Witness” from their recent album Sonic Highways, and this September released a new album of his own, called The Story of Sonny Boy Slim.
Marina and The DiamondsTickets
Neon Nature Tour
Wednesday, November 4, 2015
Though it sounds like a band, Marina and the Diamonds is really just Welsh singer-songwriter Marina Diamandis. She came onto the scene in 2009 with her debut single “Obsessions,” which earned her popularity in the U.K. As a rising talent, Diamandis was quick to dismiss comparisons between herself and other emerging British female artists at the time, wanting to be recognized as an individual rather than being grouped together with other singers she felt she had nothing in common with musically. The last few years have seen her release three successful albums, the latest of which came out in March.
BeirutTickets
Saturday, November 7, 2015
Indie folk band Beirut, led by Santa Fe’s Zach Condon, rose to popularity in 2006 with the release of their acclaimed debut album Gulag Orkestar. Critics praised their whimsical and worldly sound that uniquely blends traditional Eastern European musical styles with more straightforwardly accessible folk rock. Several albums later, the band is still at it, having just released a new record titled No No No in August. Attending a Beirut show is like traveling the world without leaving the room, so don’t miss them when they come to Boston this November.
Minus The BearTickets
with Murder By Death & Aero Flynn
Wednesday, November 11, 2015
Minus the Bear emerged on the Seattle music scene in 2001. The band released several hilariously titled albums in the early 2000s, including Bands Like It When You Yell “Yar” At Them! and They Make Beer Commercials Like This. Minus the Bear has a lot of fantastic song titles as well, such as “Pantsuit…Uggghhh,” “Monkey!!!Knife!!!Fight!!!” and “Hey! Is That a Ninja Up There?” among others. Though the wacky song titles might suggest otherwise, Minus the Bear’s tunes are actually quite refined and expertly arranged, and it’s obvious that the band takes their music seriously.
Shakey GravesTickets
with Those Darlins
Starting on Thursday, November 12, 2015
Actor-turned-musician Alejandro Rose-Garcia performs under the alias Shakey Graves as a one-man alt-folk/Americana band. The Texas native released his debut album Roll the Bones in 2011, which was a critical success with its ragged blend of country, folk and blues. He followed that up with the release of 2014’s And The War Came, which was generally received as favorably as his first album.

Their success earned them a spot touring with Pretty Lights, and a year later they released their most recent album, In Return.

The name is Spanish for “disappeared ones,” taken from the 1970s practice of forced disappearance by South American governments. Much like the band’s namesake, Desaparecidos’ lyrics often focus on themes of loss. Oberst announced the group’s disbandment in in 2002 due to the increasing success of Bright Eyes, but the band officially reunited ten years later. As of 2015, Desaparecidos is signed to Epitaph Records and just released a new album titled Payola.
Meghan TrainorTickets
The MTrain Tour
Thursday, August 6, 2015
Last year, pop singer Meghan Trainor became an instant sensation with her catchy, body-positive single “All About That Bass.” After the song’s music video became a huge hit on YouTube, it eventually climbed the Billboard 200, and the rest was history. Now barely a year in the spotlight, the 21-year-old already has platinum album sales, #1 hits in several countries, and two Grammy nominations to her name.
Sublime with RomeTickets
with Rebelution
Friday, August 7, 2015
Ska-punk band Sublime was without a doubt one of the biggest acts of the ’90s, but the group unfortunately met an early demise with the untimely death of frontman Bradley Nowell. The group’s surviving members initially carried on by forming the Long Beach Dub All-Stars, but returned to the Sublime catalog in 2009 when they collaborated with singer/guitarist Rome Ramirez to form what is now called Sublime with Rome. The group originally just played Sublime songs before signing with Fueled By Ramen and releasing their debut album, Yours Truly, in 2011. The band’s live shows now feature a mix of new, original material and old Sublime favorites.

Over the years, the band has had more than ten singles reach number one on the Billboard country charts, solidifying their status as country superstars. Zac Brown Band will be playing three shows at Fenway Park this month, so you’ve got a few chances to see them when they come to your city.

After recently releasing a new album with the xx and touring in support of it, Jamie is back to focusing on his solo career at the moment, and released new music earlier this year.
Mac DemarcoTickets
with Jerry Paper
Tuesday, August 11, 2015
Last time I saw Mac Demarco perform, highlights from his set included camouflage overalls, crowd surfing, and an ironically weak attempt at a Coldplay cover, so you can expect just about anything from this Canadian goofball when he comes to Boston this month. Though known for his stage antics, Demarco’s music alone is reason enough to see him. He’s a great guitarist with quite the voice and a talent for songwriting, having earned the attention and respect of some of the biggest music critics out there, so he’s one artist you should definitely check out.
SantanaTickets
Corazon Tour
Tuesday, August 18, 2015
Undoubtedly one of the biggest rock bands of the century, Latin rock group Santana has remained relevant since performing at the legendary Woodstock festival back in 1969. Imagine DragonsTickets

Las Vegas’ Imagine Dragons seemingly came out of nowhere in the last few years to rise to the top of the charts and earn a Grammy Award, becoming one of the biggest acts out there right now. Chock full of stadium-ready anthems much like their first record, their sophomore attempt was well worth the wait, and now the band is out promoting the album on their headlining Smoke + Mirrors tour.

Flash forward to 2015, and Twain is headed out on the road for her first tour in 11 years, still rocking it at almost 50 years old. One of the most revered acts in the music world today, the Foo Fighters, are back with their first album in three years, the highly anticipated “Sonic Highways.” Each track on the album was inspired by and recorded in a different U.S. city, though not once on the record does the band stray from their own sound. It’s been a big year for the Foo Fighters in addition to “Sonic Highways.” With the release of the album also came an eight-episode HBO series of the same name, directed by Dave Grohl himself. The band also recently announced a 2015 North American tour that kicks off in July, and are (as usual) selling out huge stadiums nationwide.
Modest MouseTickets
with Gene Ween
Thursday, July 23, 2015

The band released a few albums before really hitting it big with their 2004 commercial breakthrough Good News For People Who Love Bad News. For their next album, 2007’s We Were Dead Before the Ship Even Sank, they recruited former Smiths guitarist Johnny Marr to record with them. Marr eventually became a full member of the band, touring in support of the record, although he ultimately left shortly afterward to join The Cribs. Modest Mouse underwent a bit of a lull in activity since then, other than releasing an EP in 2009 and playing a few shows here and there. However, the band came back in full force in 2014, issuing the single “Lampshades On Fire” ahead of their long-awaited sixth album, Strangers to Ourselves. The new album is the band’s first full-length since ’07, but it is proving to have been worth the wait.

Now a full-fledged band, Passion Pit has become one of the most commercially successful indie acts of the last few years. They recently released their highly anticipated third album Kindred
InterpolTickets
with Hundred Waters
Starting on Thursday, July 23, 2015
Practically synonymous with NYC indie rock, Interpol was established as a successful band early on when they released their acclaimed debut album “Turn on the Bright Lights.” Hardworking and impeccably dressed, they set themselves apart from other bands at the time with their classy suits and mature music, distinctly marked by vocalist Paul Banks’ somber and instantly recognizable baritone. Despite the departure of bassist Carlos Dengler in 2010, Interpol now carries on as a trio with Banks, guitarist Daniel Kessler, and drummer Sam Fogarino still going strong. After a four-year hiatus, the band came back in 2014 with their latest album El Pintor, the title of which is a clever anagram for the band’s name.
